Chapter 62 First Day Back

Several students crowded around Viola, praising her nonstop.

“Wow, your skin looks amazing.”

“You’re gorgeous.”

“I love your piano pieces so much. They sound just like you, soft and beautiful.”,

“Thank you so much for the support,” Viola replied warmly, signing autographs and posing for photos with practiced ease.

Inside the classroom, the moment Viola sat down, Sabrina slid into the seat beside her and smirked. “Wow, look who’s famous now. Should I be asking for an autograph or what?”

Viola smiled, clearly enjoying it, but waved it off. “Come on, I’m not famous. We’re all just students here.”

Sabrina laughed. “Hey.”

Viola suddenly lowered her voice. “Is everything set?”

Sabrina flashed an OK sign, looking smug. “Math department, international program. That girl’s headed straight into trouble. Worst case, she’ll get kicked out of the class entirely.”

Viola’s smile widened.

Serves her right for acting superior while enrolling as an ordinary student.

The international program sounded elite-global, selective, all that. But at Valedawn University? It meant something very different.

In reality, it was where they sent everyone who didn’t fit anywhere else.

The students split into two extremes.

Half were trust fund kids who barely showed up, using it to fluff their resumes and coast to a degree.

The other half just couldn’t keep up academically.

That’s why everyone on campus had a different name for it: the ‘lost cause track.’

Parents didn’t bother managing them. Teachers didn’t bother either. They’d muddled along together for two years when news suddenly broke that a transfer student was joining.

The group exploded.

The class group chat blew up instantly.

Student A typed. “We’re getting a transfer student? From another school?”

Student B fired back. “Why our class? Absolutely not.”

Student C added. “I heard the department gave her an evaluation. Total disaster. Failed everything. None of the instructors wanted her, so they dumped her on us.”

Student D chimed in. “This class isn’t a trash bin or a recycling center. Why should we take her. Kick her

out.”

Student E replied, “Yeah, kick her out.”

Student F teased, “So what do we do first to welcome her?”

Student G shot back, “Ice water sound good?”

Student H mocked, “Perfect. I’ll grab some skewers and sit front row.”

Student I chimed in, “Let’s go. Get her out and celebrate together.”

Celebration emojis flooded the chat.

Viola scrolled through screenshot after screenshot of the international program group chat.

In her mind, she could already see Seraphina being forced out, humiliated.

She couldn’t stop smiling.

At 2:10 p.m, Seraphina finally drove onto campus.

She’d stayed up all night working on the Voidflame Pill. When her alarm went off in the morning, she kicked the phone off the bed and rolled over, going back to sleep.

By the time she woke up again, it was already eleven.

She’d planned to head straight to campus, but Celestine had dragged her back to the table for lunch.

While eating, Celestine kept talking, insisting that school didn’t matter nearly as much as eating properly

The entrance of the campus was crowded with student volunteers holding banners.

Following their directions, Seraphina quickly found the building for the math department.

As she stepped into the elevator, a middle-aged man entered behind her. White shirt, dress pants, polished shoes. He looked every bit the part of a professor.

He glanced at Seraphina, adjusted his glasses, and a flicker of disdain passed through his eyes.

Two female students followed them in. When they saw the man, they lowered their heads politely.
