She turned and walked away. That retreating figure looked impossibly cool. The field stayed silent for several long minutes.
Then a girl suddenly shouted, “That was insane. I’m officially a fan. International program queen just showed up.”
The girl was Chloe. Her shout was like lighting a fuse.
The girls erupted instantly, voices overlapping as they declared their support. The guys wanted to protest. Why her?

Cassian turned toward her, smiling easily. “She asked for directions.”
A light breeze lifted his collar, carrying a faint, clean scent.
He reached out and ruffled her hair. “Come on. I’ll take you to a popular spot.”
Didn’t girls her age love checking out trendy places, taking photos, posting online? They got into the car and buckled up.
