Liam bends a knee in front of me and grabs my hand. “Amy, you think it was just us wanting you back? Most of the pack was taking turns looking for you. You giving birth to their future Alpha alone, will make the whole pack protect you. You are wanted here, by everybody.” I stare at him in shock. The whole pack was looking for me, why? No one but my group cared for me while I was here. Why did they suddenly care once I was gone?
I look down at Liam, trying to read his mind, see if what he’s saying is true. I can see nothing but sincerity in his eyes. Then, my mind flashes to Clara, walking out of his office, hanging on his arm. I pull my hand out of his, leaving him looking hurt. “I’ll think about it. I need to talk to Nick, see what he thinks.” I tell them, I see a flash of anger cross Liam’s eyes. “Nick?” He asks as calmly as he can. I just nod, but don’t explain.
A little later, I’m sitting in the doctor’s office waiting for my results. Liam walks in with the doctor and takes a seat in the chair next to the bed. “Alright Amy, you’re indeed pretty weak. All of our testing showing your numbers are pretty low.” He stops, looking up at me from the papers. “Okay? What do you suggest?” I ask, he looks at me questioningly. “You said that your wolf is subdued because of the necklace you wear. Correct?” I nod, “How long have you been wearing that necklace?” My hand subconsciously grabs my pendant and starts playing with it. “Um, all my life. With what I know now, probably since I was born.” I answer, and he seems to consider something. Taking way to long to speak, but he finally does, “Well, I think your best course of action, if to take the necklace off and let your wolf out…”. My eyes widen, I look at Liam. He sits up straighter and eyes the doctor anxiously. “Let her wolf out? What if that isn’t an option?” My eyes shoot to the doctor, he looks at me worriedly. “Alpha, I think her wolf is mad. Mad that she’s being caged, and is slowly withering away. The longer she’s wears that necklace, the weaker she’ll become, until her wolf leaves. And a wolf leaving its host…. It will kill her.” The doctor finishes, my hand gripping my necklace. Liam lets out a loud growl and stands next to me, as if he can protect me from this.
My wolf is leaving me? I’ve never even met her. I didn’t even know that was possible. I’m dying? I’m dying, because I can’t let my wolf out. Without thinking I grab Liam’s hand squeezing it. The doctor looks scared from Liam’s outburst, but speaks, “I’m sorry. If letting your wolf out isn’t an option, we can give you some pills to try and up your numbers. But I’m sorry Amy, the end result will still be the same.” I can see the sweat falling off his forehead as he speaks. Liam gives a low menacing growl and starts stalking towards the doctor, his wolf clearly in control right now..
I look at the doctor, “Thank you, you can go.” I dismiss him and throw my arms around Liam’s waist. Not really caring if he’s with Clara at the moment, I need his scent to calm me. My mind keeps replaying everything the doctor said. After a minute I feel his arms tighten around me, as he pulls me closer to him. “We’ll figure something out. We have to.” He whispers the last part. I nod into his chest
