Chapter 130

+25 Bonus

When I walk closer, I see Amy’s hand in Walker’s as she leans on his shoulder. A sharp pain of jealously runs through me, but I hold it back. This is what Walker has always been for her, he gives her strength through silence. I sit down on the other side of Amy, not really sure what I want to say.

She doesn’t question it; she just keeps leaning on Walker. I see her other hand flinch, like she wants to grab mine, but she second guesses it and lays it flat on her thigh. I want to grab her hand so bad, but I want to know where we stand. I need to talk to her. Before I can open my mouth though Griffon and Heather come racing towards me. “Daddy!” They yell in unison, I smile and catch them in my arms.

I kiss the top of each of their heads. Goddess, I missed so much! What were they like as babies? Do they have a favorite stuffed animal? A favorite bedtime story? I know nothing about my own children. It makes my anger flare up, but I hold it back. It makes me want to kill her father even more. He made it so my whole family couldn’t be with me. I hate him more then words can describe.

I set the kids down, “You guys’ having fun?” I ask, and the nod violently with giant smiles. “Mommy told us not to wake you. That you needed your sleep, but I’m glad you finally woke up!” Heather exclaims. I smile, though I wish they would have woken me up, I don’t want to miss out on anymore time with them. She’s not wrong though, I haven’t slept like that in six years, it was so peaceful.

Amy stands up and looks at our kids, “Come on sweeties lets go back home, I need to talk to your daddy. Maybe grandma and grandpa will help this bunch watch you.” She says and I’m grateful she wants to talk to me. They smile at the mention of my parents and grab my hands racing for the house.

Once the kids finally slow down, Griffon looks up at me, “Is the bad man going to find us here?” He asks me, looking at the ground sadly. “I hope not, but if he does, we’ll all protect you. Why do you ask?” He smiles sadly and looks back at Amy. “She’s so happy here. She’s always on edge, but she smiles a lot more around you guys

.” He looks me in the eyes, “She always tells us bedtime stories about you guys. She’d always smile remembering you guys, but when she told us about you, she would cry…” Ouch. “Not in a bad way daddy. She just missed you a lot. She told us how great you were and how happy you were going to be to meet us and how much she loved you. She said she couldn’t wait til we could be home, but we had to wait for the bad man to be gone so you guys would be safe. But we’re here and the bad man isn’t gone, so everyone is in danger. I don’t want to see anyone get hurt, and it’ll kill mommy. She’s already sick, I don’t think she could handle it.” He finishes and I see a tear fall down his cheek, I look over and Heather is crying to.

I stop and kneel down next to them pulling them to me, “Hey, shush, no one’s going to get hurt and we’re going to get your mommy better. Everything’s going to be fine.” I whisper. How much do they know? They seem to know much more then they should at such a young age. Before I can think to much about it, the rest of the group catches up.
