Chapter 137

I wake up wrapped in Liam’s scent, I figure they must have taken me to Liam’s room to rest. When I open my eyes, I am in Liam’s room, but Liam’s arms are wrapped tightly around me. I look up and see him sleeping peacefully. I don’t want to wake him up, but I really have to go to the bathroom.

I slowly try and make my escape, but he clamps down and pulls me closer to him. For a second, I just want to stay here and breathe in his relaxing scent, but I really have to go. “Liam, I have to pee.” I whisper, and he chuckles letting me go.

When I walk out of the bathroom, Liam is sitting on the side of the bed. I suddenly get cold without his warmth, and I wrap my arms around myself. “How long was I out this time?” He looks at me sadly, “Six hours. Grab a hoodie from my closet and we should go down and see the kids. They’re worried about you.” I sigh, because I’m sure they are, especially now that they know I’m sick.

I walk into his closet and grab a black hoodie he has folded up on a top shelve. When I pull down the hoodie a box falls down to the ground. I hurry to pick it up, but then realize how familiar it looks. Is this the box of things I saved from Liam and I’s childhood? I open it up and sure enough it has everything I remember putting in there. Movie tickets, old presents, my bracelet, but there’s more. I see some old photographs that I don’t remember putting in here and when I look further, I see a necklace.

My mom’s necklace, it’s on a silver chain and the pendent has intricately placed connected flowers with a blue sapphire jewel in the middle of each flower. She never wore it, because she always had to wear her protection necklace. I used to get so mad at her, because she’d never wear this beautiful necklace and would never let me wear it either, so I made her promise to give it to me when I got older. I don’t understand how any of this stuff is here though, it all should have burned in the fire. I pull the necklace in front of my face and just stare at it.

I hear a cough behind me and turn quickly. He smiles sadly and kneels down on the ground next to me. He places his thumb on my cheeks wiping away tears I hadn’t realized I cried. Then, looks up into my eyes. “I figured you might want these things one day. I grabbed them from the house after you got out of the hospital.” He looks away guiltily, I pull his face back to me. “How did you know about the necklace?” He smiles, “Amy, you told me the whole spiel about the necklace and brought it up a few more times after that. I wanted to steal it for you back then, but figured your mom would catch onto that.” He chuckles. I don’t remember telling him about it, but clearly I did. I can’t believe he remembered that or thought to grab it for me. We just stare into each other’s eyes, me in disbelief and him in waiting. Waiting to see what I’ll do, I can tell he doesn’t know how I’ll react to him doing this for me.

Again, after all these years. He kept all of this, not knowing if I was alive or dead. It’s always been the small things that have made me fall in love with Liam. He hasn’t really ever been the big gesture type, but I’ve never wanted him to be. The fact that he remembers things I didn’t even remember amazes me. Everything about this man makes me love him. Even how he’s treated me since we got back. He could be a dick or say I couldn’t stay here, or ignore me, but he hasn’t done any of that, just been there.
