Full Moon Curse (by Dream) novel Chapter 16

Chapter 16

As I’m watching him throwing some tequila in the red cup, I’m tackled from the side by a very drunk Mia. “Oh my god! You actually came! I didn’t think you were going to come!” Mia shouts at me, while I’m still trying to stand up straight after Mia’s attack. Like it was instinct Dallas reaches back and stands me up straight without even looking back at me or stopping making the drink. I look over at Mia, “I wasn’t planning on it, but someone ambushed me in my house, and my mom caved immediately.” I explained to her while glaring at Dallas. He turns around with my drink in his hand smiling. He hands it to me and throws his arm over my shoulders, “Hey, it was not immediate. Your mom made us work for it; you just weren’t privy to that conversation.” He says winking at me. Mia stares between us accusingly.

I laugh as I try the drink he prepared. I look up at him wide-eyed. “This is really good!” He smiles at my appreciation. “Just be careful, it’s dangerous when you can’t taste the alcohol.” He responds. Mia grabs my hand and yells again, “Come dance with me!” I laugh and let her drag me away.

I start to forget myself and just let myself dance and have a good time with Mia. Dallas has brought me a couple refills of my drink, but he doesn’t seem too amped up to dance with us. I race over to him; I’m so drunk I don’t even care what people are thinking. He laughs at me as I place my hands on both his forearms. “Yes, Amy?” He laughs looking up at me. “Come. Dance with me.” He shakes his head no, sipping on his beer still laughing at me. I pull him out of his seat, somewhere in my brain I realize he’s letting me, but I don’t care right now. “Now, Dals!” I shout and pull him out onto the dance floor.

I grab his hand and twirl myself under it. After I grab both his arms and start shaking him, I have no idea what I’m doing. I’m no expert at dancing, but he doesn’t seem to mind as he smiles down at me. I stop in the middle of the floor and look up at him, “So, this is what partying is all about? Just dancing and booze? This is what I needed to so badly experience before high school was over?” I ask, smiling up at him. He pulls me into his chest and keeps us dancing. “Well, Aims. Are you having fun?” I think about it for a minute and smile up at him. ” Yeah, I think I am.” I answer. I’ve had fun before. Mia is one of the top experts, but this is something else entirely. Still fun, just a different spectrum, I guess. He keeps smiling at me and twirls me under his arm again. ” Then, yes. This is what I wanted you to experience before high school is over.” He finishes.

I wish I could open up his mind and see what he’s thinking, feeling. I wish that was my superpower, being able to read minds. It’s not just his mind I’d like to snoop into.
