Chapter 189

My mom’s been locked in a room with my father for three days now. Dallas says she’s fine and is making sure to get updates on it to make sure. So, I feel a little better in that respect.
I hate not trusting my dad, but what he did to her still haunts me. I could have lost her that day and bewitched or not, I would have lost my dad too.
If not from one of us killing him, I know he’d never forgive himself if he killed her. I don’t think I would have been able to either.
I’m having trouble now.
It seems the rings Hazel made for all of us, are working though. As far as I’ve been told there hasn’t been any more incidents. And I believe them; Dallas would have either killed my dad or Dallas would be dead having tried.
No matter how much he wishes he were at this moment, he’s not stronger then him. It took Walker, Dallas and me holding him down last time.
“What are you thinking about?” The magical voice of my beautiful mate cuts through the drama in my head and I look over at her with a smile.
We’re sitting at the table, eating a quick breakfast before we go out and let her explore the pack. “Nothing. Are you ready?” I ask her and she gives me a sweet smile before nodding.
I grab her hand and we start to walk to the door and I notice her look up the stairs. I stop, “Did you forget something?” I ask her and she shakes her head. “Oh, no. Just looking around.” She tells me.
I almost don’t believe her, but I ignore it and pull her out of the house.
I don’t want to start unnecessary drama right now. I can tell she’s having trouble acclimating to me and the pack. She won’t let me do anything other than holding her hand, and occasionally she’s okay with me putting my arm around her.
She seems nervous and I hate it. I just want her to feel at home here. So, I’m hoping today will help.
We walk to the Main Street, where pretty much everything other than my mom’s favorite café is.
I take her from shop to shop as she just peruses. We walk through the park, “Hey, Mr. And Mrs. Matthews.” I wave to the older couple sitting on the bench.
They smile and wave back, then we continue walking. Nadia turns back towards them while we walk away, just looking at them. “Who were they?” She asks, and I purse my lips.
“They’re kind of the pack pariahs. Not many people talk to them anymore, but they’re kind people.” I tell her and Nadia looks up at me in confusion.
“Why does no one like them?” She asks and I grimace. “Their daughter tried to kill my mom. Then disappeared. No one’s heard from her since.” I explain and she nods.
“Doesn’t sound like it was their fault. Your parents just allow everybody to hate them?” She asks, and I scoff.” Please. My mom would never. She’s tried everything short of Alpha commanding the pack. People will feel the way they want to feel though. My parents can’t stop that. They don’t like taking free will unless it’s absolutely

necessary. I’m not sure I’ve ever seen my dad Alpha command someone.” I tell her and she nods thoughtfully.
“That’s too bad.” She whispers, then continues looking around the pack.
Kids playing and parents laughing. This pack was never a bad pack, but my mom worked her ass off to make this a great pack.
As far as I know we don’t even have any enemies, but that doesn’t stop us from having an army ready to fight. As my dad says, ‘The smallest thing can start a war. Best to be prepared than slacking.’
The amount of people we have wanting to join our pack is pretty insane too. My mom has been trying to expand and build, but she can only make that happen so fast.
Suddenly, my body falls to the side and I run into Nadia, as someone falls into me. I grab ahold of Nadia and catch us both before we fall and look back at the culprit.
Aspen sits on the floor, with an arm straddling a football as she starts to push herself off the ground. I grab ahold of her arm and pull her up, and look over seeing that she was playing with Randy and Finn. “Nice catch.” I joke with her.
She pulls her arm back and takes a step away from me, then looks up at me. “Sorry.” She mumbles out and I look at her like she’s crazy.
Her jaw clenches and she starts to walk away before I stop her. “Aspen.” I turn towards Nadia. “This is Nadia. I don’t think you two have officially met.” I introduce them and Nadia reaches her hand out to shake Aspens.
Aspen looks at it like it’s going to bite her, but then slowly she reaches out her hand and shakes Nadia’s. “Nice to meet you.” Aspen says almost too sweetly.
I shake my head at her slightly.
I really want to make Aspen feel more okay about all of this and I should have talked to her before now about the ball, but she’s making it really hard.
Randy and Finn come up behind Aspen and smile widely at Nadia. “Hey! I’m Finn, that’s Randy.” Finn tells her, pointing over at Randy and Nadia smiles,
“Nice to meet you both.” Nadia says kindly. “They’re Cole and Hazel’s kids. Aspen is Mia and Walker’s.” I explain and Nadia nods in understanding.
Nadia looks up at me, “Do Dallas and Nick have any kids?” She asks, and I shake my head. “It’s not super common for Gamma’s to have kids. Their pretty focused on protecting the Luna and having a child would make it harder. Plus, my mom told me they didn’t want kids.” I explain, and Nadia nods thoughtfully.
“Do you want kids, Nadia?” Aspen asks and I glare at her. “Aspen!” I snap, we haven’t even discussed that yet.
