He sits down and looks sternly at me from across the desk, “You said you’d do anything to protect him. I mean come on Amy. It’s either you disappear now, or they have to plan your funeral next!” He whisper yells, starting to get angry that I’m not all for his plan to leave everybody again.

I stare at him for a long time, “Leaving last time nearly killed me. I won’t do it again.” I say gently but sternly, and he let’s out a frustrated breath.

“Your funeral.” He huffs. Standing up and turning away from me. We were so focused on our fight, we didn’t realize Dallas had woken up though.

“Dallas. Let me explain.” Nick says cornered. Dallas shakes his head, glaring at his mate like he’s nothing to him. “I heard everything you had to say. Where do you get off putting ideas like that in her head?” Dallas shouts at him and Nick shakes his head. “We’ll go with her! We can still keep her safe! Safer than she is here! You said yourself you’d be willing to run with her, if Liam didn’t…” Dallas cuts him off. “Enough! The only reason I said that was to protect her from her mate, not rip her from him! I’d never willingly rip them apart again unless I had no option!” Dallas yells and Nick shakes his head and narrows his eyes at Dallas.

“Where do you think all of this is headed? You think you can protect her from this witch that can paint an entire living room in blood! She’s not safe here, and it seems I’m the only one willing to take action to actually protect her!” Nick shouts back at Dallas.

Dallas glares at him, “You’re not doing this for her! If you were you’d suggest Liam takes her and runs. You’re doing this for you.” Dallas says and Nick throws his hands out to his sides. “Okay? So what if I am? I need to protect my mate to, since I’m the only one that seems to have your back!”

I start to back away, gathering my papers and heading for the door. I shouldn’t be here for this. They need to

work this out themselves.

I sneak out the door, while they continue to argue and make my way downstairs to the game room, that no one ever uses anymore. It was Liam and the guys’ hangout area for awhile, then Griffon’s, now there’s no one to really to use it anymore.

Wanting to be far away from that drama. Nick’s scared and I can’t blame him for wanting to keep his mate safe. He’s just going to have to find a way to do it without using me.

I start going over the funeral arrangements again, when my eyes slip to the bookshelves across the room.

We’ve looked over everything in the house, but I’m curious if anyone ever thought to look in the panic room. I’m

sure someone has.

I look back at the papers, then back at the shelves. I won’t be able to concentrate until I know for sure.
