Chapter 213
‘Liam’ I hear her worried voice in my head, right before I feel the connection cut off.
‘Amy?’ Nothing.
‘Amy!’ Nothing.
I was already on my way home anyway and the last place I know she was, was in the office, working on the funerals with Dallas and Nick.
My foot slams down on the pedal and I race the rest of the way home.
Walker looks over at me concerned, “What’s going on?” He asks, and my gaze turns to him. “Hopefully, I’m overreacting. I can’t get Amy through mind-link.” I explain to him, and he goes silent for a moment.
I look over at him to see if he was able to and with a slight shake of his head, I know he isn’t able to either.
Goddess, please let me be overreacting.
Maybe she just cut the link. But why would she call for me, then cut the link?
The car comes to a screeching halt outside the house, Walker and I are out of the car instantly, barely letting the car be put in park before we race for the house.
I run up the stairs and into the office, the office door standing open and Dallas and Nick in the middle of the room arguing.
They stop and look at me when I enter, and my eyes scan the room. “Where is she?” I shout, worry lacing my
tone.
She’s fine.
She has to be fine.
Dallas’s wide eyes turn towards her desk, and fear floods his vision. “Fuck!” He shouts, then he takes off to search.
We check the top floor first, then the main floor, then we head for the game room.
Once we enter, we see the papers she was working on. The list of what she needs to finish. But no Amy.
My nerves skyrocket.
Dallas lets out a growl and next thing I know he has Nick by the shirt slamming him up against the wall.
What the hell?
I don’t have time for this, but Dallas’s next words make me think I need to make time.
“I swear if she listened to you…” He lets his words fall off, like what he wants to say is too much.
A growl leaves my lips as I take a step closer to them. “Listened to him about what?” I ask.
Nick’s eyes widen as he looks at Dallas like he’ll protect him, but Dallas pushes away from him and walks away,

grabbing at his hair like everything’s becoming to much for him.
I glare at Nick, until he finally answers. “I was trying to get her to run away with Dallas and I.” He says and I’m in his face instantly.
He was trying to take her from me again!
I’ll fucking kill him!
“You did what?” I shout just inches from his face. Walker walks a little closer and I can feel him readying to have to break us up, but I don’t have time for this. I need to find my mate!
She wouldn’t have ran. I know it. She wouldn’t do that to me again, and the kids. Even with her and Griffon at odds, she’d never leave us willingly.
She promised me.
Nick stands a little straighter, “It’s the safest option and all of you know it! The witch wants her dead! If she’s not here… If she’s hidden again the witch will leave and the pack will be safe, and she’ll be safe!” He screams and I nearly black out from the anger that overtakes my soul.
It’s not a hex this time. There’s no fog. I just want to kill him.
I growl low and calmly, “First, we assume the witch wants her dead based on past occurrences, we don’t know for sure that’s their end game. Second, if it wasn’t for Dallas and Amy’s love for you, you’d be dead already. I want you out of my sight until I decide what I’m going to do with you.” I say much calmer than I feel right now.
Nick looks at me shaking his head, “I’m the only one here willing to do what needs to be done to save this pack.” Nick whispers and this time it’s Dallas who growls.
“You’re not trying to save this pack, Nick. You’re being selfish.” Dallas whispers and I take a step back.
Nicks arms fly out to his sides, “So what, if I am? I may want Amy safe, but you’re my mate! I’m supposed to look out for you! I’m supposed to have your back, considering no one else around here cares if you die protecting her!” Nick screams and Dallas looks at him like he’s never seen him before.
He takes a step closer to Nick, and I glance over at Walker, who looks worried.
“You knew what my job was when you agreed to mark me. Nothing’s changed. Other than the fact I have a job to do now. You may think you’re protecting me, but really, you’re making all of this harder. I never asked for you to protect me. If I die saving my Luna’s life, then I die! It’s what I am supposed to do! It’s what my wolf wants to do! It’s what I want to do! The only person here who needs to get their priorities straight here, is you!” Dallas shouts and Nick looks like he just shot him in the face.
