Chapter 218
I feel the blood drain from my face and my hands start searching for my keys.
‘She could die.’ The words play on repeat in my head.
Nadia walks into the room and looks over at me, “Are you okay?” She asks, and I shake my head. “My mom’s in the hospital.” I inform her, and something flashes across her face that I can’t place.
I choose to ignore it as I finally find my keys and grab them off the counter, turning and walking for the door.
Nadia grabs my arm and turns me to look at her. “You’re going?” She asks, and I look at her confused. She stutters a few times, “I… It’s just… I figured with the way she treated us…” She doesn’t finish and I continue to look at her like she’s crazy.
“She’s my mom.” I tell her and she nods, then shakes her head. “Sometimes family is the people you decide. Your mom stopped being your mom when she decided she didn’t care about you.” She says and I take a deep breath.
Doesn’t care about me? Honestly, how I’ve taken this whole fight was she was caring too much. Not wanting to let me go.
I look at Nadia and shake my head, “I just want to check on her then I’ll leave.” I tell her and she sighs, “Okay. I’ll come with you.” She says almost like she’s mad at me.
I nod and start to head for the car.
Once we get to the hospital, I walk to the waiting room hand in hand with Nadia. I see my dad, Dallas and Walker all covered in blood, and a small gasp leaves my lips. “What happened?” I growl, walking closer to my dad and waiting for his response.
Dad looks up at me, “The witch.” He tells me, and I shut my eyes.
I’ve never seen my dad like this. So… Deafeated. His face is pale and everyone here is grim.
My teeth clench and I turn my head towards Dallas. “Aren’t you supposed to protect her from things like this?” I growl. Dallas doesn’t even get mad, or defensive, just shuts his eyes and throws his head into his hands.
“That’s enough. We’re not doing this now and we’re not doing this here.” Dad growls and my hand tightens around Nadia’s.
Maybe she’s right. Maybe this fight is deeper than I realized. Why else would my dad be defending the man that was supposed to keep his mate safe, over me. I know I wouldn’t be so lenient.
I roll my eyes with a heavy sigh and walk to the other side of the waiting room with Nadia, and sit down to wait.
A while later, I see Kiera walk thru the doors and over to my dad, so I stand and walk over to them.

“Liam, Griffon.” She starts then looks at my dad. “So, she’s going to be fine, but we ran some test and found silver in her blood. We think there must have been something on the blade to keep her wounds from closing fully, and it’s travelled all over her body. She’s going to be pretty weak for a week or so, just until it all clears out.” She explains, and my eyes widen.

Blade? What the hell happened?
Dad nods, “Can I see her?” He asks and Kiera nods her head, “Yes, but just family right now. She should be waking up soon, I don’t want to overwhelm her.” Kiera answers.
I grab Nadia’s hand and we start walking to the double doors with Dad, following Kiera. Dad stops and looks over at me. “Just you, Griffon.” He states, and my jaw clenches. “She’s my mate. She’s family.” I growl.
Dad looks so lost, so defeated, but he stands his ground. “I can’t deal with this right now. I won’t have you stressing out your mother. If you want to come see her, fine, but Nadia is not welcome.” He growls, then turns on his heels to follow Kiera.
Leaving me and Nadia watching his back. Nadia’s hand tightens on mine, and I look down at her. She looks like she wants to cry, which only serves to piss me off more. I pull her arm and start walking to the exit angrily.
I can’t believe he’d do this!
Aspen steps in my path and stops me with a hard glare, then turns her glare to Nadia. “I’ll hang out with Nadia. You go see your mom.” Aspen growls, and I shake my head.
“She’s not my mother.” I growl and storm passed her.
I hear gasps play out around the room, but no one stops me. No one really cares about me. I’m starting to see that now. I’m starting to see, that I’m just the kid of the Alpha and Luna they all care about, I’m hardly even worth their time.
Nadia and I get to the apartment I had found for us, and my minds going in a million directions, but all I can think about is her.
I pull her to me and finally get brave enough for our first kiss.
