Chapter 219
My eyes blink open slowly and the first thing I see is Liam staring down at me. It still, til this day, amazes me when I wake up and see him.
After everything we went through as kids, who would have thought we’d end up here, together. Minus the whole witches trying to kill us, I couldn’t ask for more than what I have.
“How are you feeling?” Liam asks, and it’s like his words awaken the pain in the body.
My side is splitting, my wrists are throbbing, and my head feels like it’s going to explode. My teeth clench and Liam looks at me worried, before searching for the nurses’ button and pressing it. “I’ll get you some pain meds.” He tells me and I nod.
I watch as he looks between me and the door, clearly, they’re not moving fast enough for him. I reach out and grab his wrist, and he gives me his full attention, with his brows furrowed.
I give him a small smile, “I’m okay.” I whisper, and he closes his eyes and takes a deep breath. He shakes his head then looks back down at me again, “I’m just glad this is all over.” He whispers, placing his hand over my cheek and caressing my face.
My face pinches and he looks at me confused, I shake my head and open my mouth, but nothing comes out.
I want to tell him that it’s not over, that we still need to worry, but I hate stressing him out. Maybe I should wait until I know more.
But how will I know more? I killed the witch. I have no idea when the other one plans on striking. If they’ll be pissed that I killed one of them.
No, it’s better we all be prepared.
“Liam… It’s not over.” I tell him and the furrow in his brow increases. “What do you mean? You killed her.” He states and I nod, then shake my head. “I did, but she’s not working alone.” I inform him and he nods.
“Yeah, but whoever she’s working with in the pack we can handle. It’s the witchy crap we’ve been having trouble dealing with.” He says and I just shake my head again. “There’s more than one witch.”
His eyes widen and he takes a step back shaking his head. “No. No. No.”
He starts pacing back and forth, then stops and looks at me, his face full of dread. “We need to leave. Get you out of the pack. I can’t see you get hurt again. I won’t. I can’t survive seeing you like that again.” He whispers the last part, looking down at his shoes shaking his head, like he’s warring against the two halves of himself.
I shake my head, and try to push myself up, but it just hurts my wrist, and I hiss in pain. Liam rushes over to me and helps me sit up. He starts to pull away, but I grab him and hold him close to me. “Liam, this isn’t about me. They want you. If I leave, we’ll be giving into their plans. They won’t leave the pack, because all they want is you, and all they want with me is to get me out of the way.” I tell him and he shakes his head.
“Why would they want me?” He asks and I shrug. “You’re an Alpha. She said Alpha and Luna blood is good for spell work, but I’m assuming Alpha blood would be the best. But I still feel like it’s more than that. She didn’t give me all the details.” I explain, and he cringes at the word blood like I physically punched him.
“Fuck!” He stands up straight and starts pacing the floor again. The nurse finally walks in, “She needs meds!”

Liam shouts at Kiera and she flinches a little at how aggressive he sounds. I give her an apologetic look as she leaves the room, then turn back to Liam.
“Liam. It’s okay. We’ve taken care of one of the witches. We can do it again.” I say softly, trying to calm him down. Not really sure if I even believe what I’m saying. If I’m right, this witch is far more powerful than the one I took out.
He stops pacing and his face looks defeated and sad. “Angel, you almost died taking care of this witch. What happens if this witch is stronger? What happens to me, to Griffon, to Heather if we lose you?” He says, walking closer to me, and threading his fingers through my hair.
His eyes change to determined and his hold in my hair tightens, “I won’t let it happen. I’m not leaving your side until we figure this out.” He says absolutely, leaving no room for argument.
I look up at him with a small smile and nod, “Okay, Liam.” I whisper and he leans down and crushes his lips to mine.
His lips move perfectly against mine, as if they were made for each other. Which I guess they kind of were.
The door opens and Liam pulls away from me when we hear a slight cough behind him. We look and see Kiera walking back in with the meds in her hand.
She smiles at me, “Glad to see you’re doing better, but I’m going to need you to not get hurt again. This one is a pain in the ass.” She jokes, moving her eyes to the side to signal she’s taking about Liam.
I chuckle, then cringe as the stitches in my stomach pull at my skin. Her face pinches and she hands me the pills and some water.
