Chapter 220
She wraps her arms around me instantly and starts to squeeze before Kiera pulls her off me. “Heather, you’re moms in pain. Be gentle.” She tells her sternly and Heather looks down at me worried.
“What happened? Are you okay? Is everything over now? Where’s dad? Where’s Griffon?” She lists off all her questions at once, but I mostly just catch the last one. ‘Where’s Griffon?’ That’s a good question.
Surely, our fight wouldn’t stop him from seeing me on my death bed.
I glance at Kiera and she her face go from amused to worried when Heather asked where Griffon was and I look at her confused. “What happened?” I ask her, and she shakes her head.
“Kiera, tell me what happened.” I tell her more sternly just as Liam walks back into the room. “What happened, when?” Liam asks, being nosey.
I look over at him, “Where’s Griffon?” I ask him and his face grows hard, and he glances at Kiera.
“Goddess, damn it. Someone better tell me, or I’m going to get up and ask him myself.” I threaten, being completely serious. I want to know what would keep my son from seeing me.
Liam sighs, and comes to sit at the foot of my bed, while Kiera leaves quietly and Heather looks between Liam, and I just as confused as I am.
Liam’s eyes meet mine, “I told him he couldn’t bring Nadia in here.” He says, and my heart drops. This is because of Nadia. Of fucking course it is.
“Since you and Nadia didn’t get along, I didn’t want you waking up and stressing out about her being here. I never thought that would make him completely leave and stress you out that way. I’m sorry, Angel.” He whispers and I sigh while Heather’s face starts to turn red from anger.
I grab her hand, but she shakes her head. “Why is he being like this? He’s been shitty since we turned eighteen and he didn’t find his mate, but now that he has it seems he’s only gotten worse! I don’t understand!” Heather complains and I look at her with a sad smile.
“I know, Sweetie. I think it’s just something he’s going to have to figure out on his own. He needs to figure out how to deal with having a mate and still being apart of the family. It isn’t always easy, and we haven’t been helping.” I turn to Liam, “Just call him and tell him Nadia’s welcome to come.” I tell him and he looks at me
confused.
I shrug, “I’d rather have him here, then not. If I have to deal with Nadia for a little while, I’ll survive.” I explain and he looks over my face as if sensing any hint of a lie, but not having seen any, he stands up and walks out into the hallway.
I look back at Heather, “I’m glad you came. Was it difficult to get away?” I ask her and a shy smile crosses her face, and she shakes her head. “No. As soon as I got off the phone with dad, Micah already had a car ready and waiting to take us here.” She explains and my smile widens.
I’m so happy she found someone so caring and perfect for her. I couldn’t ask for a better son in law.
“Good. I’m glad to hear he’s taking such good care of you.” I tell her and she smiles, “He really is the best. I keep thinking back on all the stories dad and you have told me over the years, and it makes me feel like I’ve found it.” She says and I tilt me head, “Found what?” I ask her and she smiles, “True love. The love that can survive

anything. Distance, time, hell probably even death, as long as you have each other.” She responds and I look at the door.
I look back at her and smile gratefully, “You deserve it, and more. You have the kindest soul, and you deserve the world, Sweetheart.” I whisper and she smiles. “I learned from the best.” She jokes, and I smile.
Liam walks back in with a grim face, and I already know what happened.
I close my eyes and finally lay back down in the bed, “He’s not coming.” I state and Liam shakes his head. “He’s not coming.”
I nod, then my eyes start to fall closed, the pain meds finally starting to take effect. Liam walks over and kisses my forehead. “Sleep, Angel. We’ll be here when you wake up.” He whispers.
My eyes drift fully closed, but I hear Heather before I pass out, “I’m going to go talk to him.”
