Full Moon Curse (by Dream) novel Chapter 227

Chapter 227

I’m sitting on the couch my arms crossed and a hard glare at the screen. I’m not even sure why I’m keeping up with school in the first place. I only agreed to keep up my work, because I wanted to finish school for my mother. But now… I just don’t know.

I glance over at Nadia, who’s sitting in the chair painting her toenails a deep red color, making it look like blood.

She looks up at me and smiles. “Are you done?” She asks, and I shake my head with a deep sigh. She nods, then goes back to painting her toenails.

I study her, then finally work up the nerve, “Can you tell me about your childhood?” I ask her and the brush pauses in the middle of her toenail before she picks it up and looks back over at me.

Thoughts seem to run through her mind, then all she says is, “It was fine.”

My teeth clench, but I keep trying. “Can you tell me about your parents?” I ask and she takes an annoyed breath before setting down her nail polish and giving me her full attention. “They were great. Now they’re dead.” She says nonchalantly, seemingly not caring.

My eyes soften and I sit up straighter, reaching my hand to her knee, but she subtly moves it out of my reach. I sit back and look over at her. “I’m sorry.” I tell her and she shrugs, “If they would have trusted me it wouldn’t have happened.” She says, looking out the window.

My lips purse, figuring I won’t get anymore information out of her, when we hear a knock on the door.

I get up and walk over to the door. Opening it I see my dad, Walker, Novak, Kale and Micah. My eyes narrow on them; my dad’s eyes look into mine sternly.

“What are you doing here?” I ask them. I have no idea what any of them would be doing here but especially don’t understand why Novak and Kale are here.

“We’re here for Nadia.” My dad tells me, and I instantly see red. “What the hell are you talking about?” I shout, glancing back at Nadia, who sits there wide eyed watching me.

“We have proof that she’s involved with the witch.” My dad says and I slam the door in their faces. Not able to think straight as I turn around and look at Nadia.

Pounding at my back is the least of my worries as I look at my mate. She instantly stands up and starts shaking her head. “I have no idea what they’re talking about, Griff. I’ve never worked with a witch before.” She says quickly, her eyes darting behind me.

My thoughts go to shifting, as I think of anyway to get us out of here. I can’t even win against my dad; there’s no way I can take all five of them.

‘I won’t help you.’ My wolf sneers in my head, and I nearly lose it. Wanting nothing more than to rip him out of my body. Why is no one on my side!

‘Because she’s wrong!’ My wolf shouts at me before I cut the link so we can’t speak anymore.

I look over at Nadia as she stands there frozen. “Why do they think that?” I ask, and she shakes her head. “I have no idea.” She walks up, wrapping her arms around my waist and I instantly melt into her warm body. “You have to believe me, Griff.” She whispers, looking up at me with pleading eyes.

I do believe her. She’s my mate. There’s no way she would go out of her way to hurt my mother, or this pack. She was so excited to start making things better!

“Nadia, we have to get out of here.” I tell her and her eyes only widen more. “Where are we going to go?” She asks, and I look around the room like the walls will give me the answers. Letting her walk away as I continue to hold the door shut.

The door behind my slams to the ground taking me with it. I push it off of me just in time to see them circling Nadia, I stand and rush over there. Trying to get to Nadia. Trying to protect my mate from my own father, from the very pack she wanted to make better.
