My body shakes with anger as I stare down the hallway and watch as they drag her back to the cell next to me. Throwing her inside and she falls to the ground. Her face slamming into the dirt.
They slam her cell door shut and make their way back down the tunnel. I press myself to the bars of her cell, ignoring the pain that burns into my skin as I reach for her.
She doesn’t acknowledge me; she turns her body so I can’t see what they’ve done to her and slowly walks to the cot. Laying down, her face turned towards the wall.
Goddess, please! Someone help us!
My body jolts upright, gasping for air and my heart sinking further into my soul.
I hate my dreams, the torture, the pain, the sadness. I can’t stand it.
I don’t have much time to think about when I hear footsteps headed down the hallway.
The cloud of deep black and lightning tells me it’s Griffon, as his heavy footsteps come closer.
I watch him start to walk passed me without glancing my way, heading further down into the cells. He seems to smell the air and his feet stop frozen. Causing the guard behind him to nearly run into him.
He slowly moves his head in my direction, his eyes roaming over me, before focusing on my arm, then my
stomach.
His face hardens and he turns to Dallas, “Open it!” He growls at him and Dallas rushes to open my cell door.
I can see the moment he realizes the door was left unlocked, but he plays it off like it didn’t happen, clearly not wanting the repercussions.
I don’t blame him, I’m actually happy it worked out this way.
Griffon storms into my cell and grabs my arm before studying it, his body begins to shake and his eyes glow.” Who did this to you?” He growls.
I tilt my head and raise my shirt, looking at it like that’s what he’s talking about. “You.” I tell him and his eyes laser focus on my whip mark.
I swear I see shame coat his features, but he covers it quickly and growls. “Your arm, Aspen. Who bit you?”
I shrug, “I did it to myself.” I tell him and his grip on my arm tightens. “Why do you have to be like this? Just tell me who hurt you?” He shouts, and I look up at him.
His eyes glare into mine, but there’s a vulnerability there, something he’s not willing to admit. My eyes narrow, “You.” I growl.
It’s not technically true, but in the grand scheme of things he’s the reason I had to do it.
His glare hardens, “Fine! Don’t tell me.” He shouts standing up straight and walking out of the cell angrily, continuing to wherever he was going.
“Call the nurse in to check on her injuries.” He growls back at Dallas, then I lose sight of him.

Dallas shuts and locks my cell and looks at me with a new emotion. Worry.
A smile slowly grows on my face before I can stop it, and his look turns to confused. Then he walks away.
I stand up and walk over to the bars, stopping just short, so I don’t have to be in more pain and look down the hall. Hazel joins me and we share a look right before screaming echoes through the hall and down my spine.
