Chapter 245
I hear footsteps down the hall and Hazel and I both stopped talking to wait.
Dallas comes into view and looks between us, like he’s seeing something for the first time. He turns his glare to me. “I was being nice placing you next to her. You better not make me regret it.” He growls and I smirk.
“Her? Dallas, really? Do you not remember one of your best friend’s names? One of Amy’s best friends? The one that helped her when you couldn’t. Made sure she stayed alive so she could come back to you?” I ask him, continuing to smirk the whole time.
I can see Dallas physically stop himself from looking over at Hazel and his glare turns murderous towards me. What did I say about that name?” He growls and I continue to smirk, “You said not to say it. But I’m guessing I’m on that very short do not hurt list that Griffon has, so I’ll risk it.” I say sweetly and his eyes narrow further.
“What can we do for you, Dals?” I ask him and I swear I see a vein pop in his forehead. I keep the chuckle inside my head at how easily I can get him riled up and wait for him to answer.
“You’re coming to dinner.” He grits out, then grabs the key from him pocket and undoes the lock. He waits for me to exit and then stands beside me as we start to walk.
I look back at Hazel with a smirk and a ‘be ready’ look before I face forward and continue to walk.
I glance up at Dallas and smile, “So… Any pit stops today, or are you worried I’m going to knee you in the balls again?” I ask him and he takes a deep breath before looking straight ahead and ignoring my existence.
That’s fine Dallas. Play your games. I know you’re in there, and my guess is you’re closer to the surface than Griffon is. I just need a little bit more. I’ll get there.
”
That’s the thing about this friend group that my parents were apart of; they were more than friends. They were more than family; they meant the world to one another. And while Amy and Liam dying threw a wrench in things, my parents still love Dallas. Still love Griffon. They want them to get better. Not saying there’s not going to be some bad blood if I ever manage it, but they’ll work it out. I just know it.
Hell, my dad stayed longer than he wanted to to try and help Griffon and Dallas through their grief ignoring his own, but when things started to get bad, it became a matter of my safety and as Griffon said, my dad places that above everything.
We get to the dining room and Heather immediately hops out of her chair and over to me. Looking me over with wide
eyes. She grabs my shirt and yanks it up without warning, causing me to wince a little at the pain, then looks at my arm that has gauze covering it now thanks to the nurse Griffon sent in.
Her wide eyes turn to look up at me, “What did he do to you?” She whispers, like she’s in disbelief. I shrug, “I’m fine.” I tell her and she shakes her head.
Dallas grabs my arm, pulling me away from Heather and sitting me down in the same chair I was in before. Heather sits down next to me. ‘Your plan never said anything about you getting hurt.’ She mind-links me. I sigh in my head, ‘I mostly did it to myself. Honestly, I’m fine. Just stick to the plan. I’ll be fine, I promise.’ I respond back.
Dallas looks between us, and I block the mind-link. I can’t have this ruining the plan.
I smirk at him, but he just rolls his eyes and looks away.

That’s something. A different reaction.
Finn and Lenny come in at the same time, and both of them look at Heather. “Heather? What are you doing here?” Finn asks her, a look of shock on his face.
Honestly, I’m impressed with his and Heather’s acting skills. So far this is going great.
Heather looks over at him and lets out a small sob. Which is probably entirely genuine. He’s grown up so much since we’ve seen him last, they both have.
Griffon walks in after they’ve both sat down, without Heather answering. He stalks over to his seat, and the waiters all come out to serve the food and pour the wine.
Griffon grabs his fork and looks at Heather, “See. Now you know she’s alive.” Griffon tells her and Heather grits her teeth.
