Chapter 246
While I’m terrified she’s taking this too far, I’m so fucking proud of her right now. She’s been holding that on her chest for far too long now and I’m happy she’s getting it off.
I know how guilty he feels. You don’t just kneel down in front of someone and beg them to whip you unless you feel guilt or pain beyond repair. I just hope it’s not too far beyond.
Griffon starts to shake, his anger rushing off him in waves, but he doesn’t flip out like he did on me, he grits his teeth and looks down at his plate.
“It’s time for you to leave.” He grounds out and she looks at me one more time, before moving her chair and taking a step back. “I’ll be back for Aspen. And she better not be broken when I return. I’ll bring this so-called safety to crumbles if so much a hair on her head is missing.” She grits out and then turns to leave.
She stops right before she leaves the doorway, turning only her head to look back at her brother. With tears glistening in her eyes she says, “I’m so disappointed in you.” Then she walks
away.
The room is deadly silent. Everyone having stopped eating to watch the spectacle.
Griffon finally has the nerve to glance up at me, and all he sees is a smirk on my face, which really grinds his gears. I look over at Finn. “Maybe you should go make sure she makes it to her car.” I tell him, but he doesn’t move just looks at Griffon.
Griffon’s eyes narrow on me as he contemplates the words I’m not saying. ‘So she doesn’t do something stupid on her way out.’
Finally, he relents and gives Finn a quick nod of his head, releasing him.
I nearly let out a breath of air that that worked, but I hold it inside.
Once Finn leaves the room, Griffon looks at me again, “Eat.” He growls.
So, I pick up my fork and shove it into the steak. Putting it my mouth with a smile on my face. He watches my every move, like it’s killing him that I haven’t eaten since I got here.
I ignore him and continue to eat. I’m fucking starving and now that that part is over, I just have to sit back and wait for them to make it out, then I have to wait to see the repercussions I receive, because there’s zero chance of them not knowing I was involved in this.
We finish eating in complete silence, then Dallas motions for me to get up and start walking. I do.
Everything is about to get messy, and I don’t need it to get even messier right now by not following orders.
I look over at Lenny as he looks at his once upon a time best friend with pity in his eyes. Griffon isn’t looking at him though, he’s just staring at his plate like it’s the thing that offended him.
I feel bad for Lenny. I can see the longing, the wishing that he had his old friend back. He still believes he’s in there, even if the rest of the world believes the façade he’s placed on himself.
I turn away, not wanting to see the sadness that no doubt would grace my own face if I let it. As much as I want

Griffon back, more important things are happening right now.
Dallas and I make it to the cells, and I see him start searching his pockets for the key he keeps there. He won’t
find it.
I didn’t even have to practice that trick. I’ve been able to do that since I was a kid. Honestly, Dallas should feel stupid for not remembering it, he taught me it.
He stops dead in his tracks, when we’re almost to my cell, still trying to find the key.
Finally, he looks up at my smirking face and his eyes narrow. “What did you do, Aspen?” He growls and I shrug.
He starts to move towards me to check my pockets, but his eyes widen with clarity before he touches me. He runs over to Hazel’s cell and pulls the door open. Cursing left and right as he sees she’s s gone.
He looks up at me, fear written all over his face. The first real emotion I’ve seen in him other than anger.
