Chapter 248

Dallas gets me locked into my cell immediately, like maybe Griffon won’t kill me if they’re bars between us.

I know he won’t kill me. I’m positive of that, but I’m not so sure if I won’t be headlining on that stage of his soon.

I hear him storming through the hall, his footsteps pounding, as if he’s added extra weights to make them sound even heavier than usual.

I take a deep breath before going to my cot and sitting down, then looking at the door waiting for Griffon’s face to appear.

I don’t have to wait long.

He’s there within the next second and the anger on his face could kill someone. Not me, but someone with a weaker spine and doesn’t know the things I know.

“What the hell did you do?” Griffon shouts at me, before looking over at Hazel’s cage and squeezing his eyes shut.

When they open, they narrow on me. “This was the plan all along, wasn’t it? You didn’t want to kill me; you just wanted me to think you did. You wanted Hazel.” He grounds out and I tilt my head and shrug my shoulders.

“I don’t know, Griffy. Killing you would have made all of this a lot easier.” I tell him and hurt flashes before his eyes; in a blink it’s gone. Anger being his main focus right now.

I shouldn’t be riling him up. If he chooses to hurt me, it’s just another thing that he’ll have to add to the list of things to feel guilty about. I don’t want that. Sometimes it’s just hard for me to shut it off.

He shakes his head and looks over at Dallas, “How did any of this even happen? How did she get out?” Griffon shouts at him and Dallas’s jaw ticks before he speaks. “She took the key from my pocket.” He answers.

And Griffon, on the edge of shifting growls. Honestly, I’m shocked he doesn’t just let his wolf out and kill Dallas, but then I realize something.

His hand is clutching onto the silver bars and nothing’s happening.

My heart stops in my chest and Griffon looks over at me like he hears it.

The shock on my face must be readable, because he looks at me confused as I stand up and walk closer to him.

Slowly, making my way, I grab his hand, he lets me, and I inspect it.

My wide eyes look up into his and a sea of emotions dance in his. “Griffy.” I barely whisper, I can barely think straight. This can’t be happening.

He blinks at me, and Dallas watches us closely, but I don’t take my eyes off Griffon. “You’re losing your wolf.” I whisper, and he yanks his hand away from me so fast I nearly fall over. Only catching myself with the bars and hissing at the surprise pain.

He growls looking at me and refuses to confirm or deny my statement. I don’t need him to though; I just saw all the proof I needed.

Dallas looks up at him and I do the same once I’ve regained my balance. Dallas’s shock is as evident as mine, and

“Bring her to the stage. She needs to know what happens when someone threatens the safety of my pack.” He growls turning on his heels and starting to stomp away.
