Chapter 249

Dallas turns to me, the shock still evident in his eyes, but worry to. I think even Dallas knows if he goes through with this, there will truly be no turning back for him.
Dallas slowly unlocks my cage again, and I swallow. “Dallas, please. You know he can’t do this.” I beg him.
It’s honestly not about the pain I know I’m about to feel, it has everything to do with him not ever being able to forgive himself.
Dallas shakes his head. I can tell for the first time since I’ve been here that he’s honest to the Goddess, conflicted. Even without his Gamma title, he’s still a Gamma. And if that isn’t enough, he watched me grow up, taught me things, played and babysat me. He doesn’t want this to happen, no matter how far gone he is.
He pulls me from the cage and starts to walk me to the stage. I start thinking about his wolf situation. Why is he losing his wolf?
His wolf doesn’t agree with him. He’s mad about the path he’s chosen and no longer what’s to bond with him. My heart breaks a little bit more.
I don’t know if I’m right, but it feels right. That’s enough for me.
The stage leers in the distance once we make it outside and I can already see the pack members, most dressed for bed, starting to file out in front of it.
Goddess, he’s brought the whole pack to see me get punished.
The shock of that, hurts my soul, another piece of my love for Griffon slipping away from me and that just angers me more.
I take a deep breath as Dallas walks me onto the stage and kneels me down in front of everyone. Clamping the shackles to my ankles then my wrist.
I hear gasps and whispers go around the pack. Most of the people here know me. They’re new faces, but the rest have known me since I was born.
I look up and stare at all of them, then I give them my signature smirk and the confusion that crosses all their faces is comical.
I have no intention of being beaten on a stage in front of everybody, and I have just the thing that will assure that I’m not.
Griffon comes to stand in front of me, with the pack, apparently not wanting to be the one that does this to me.
“Why are you smirking?” He asks in confusion, and I shrug, “I know something that you don’t.” I tell him. The crowd unusually quiet.
He tilts his head to study me, “What’s that?” He asks, a smirk forming on his face.
I let out a soft laugh, “Your mom is going to be pissed when she finds out you whipped me.” I tell him and the smirk falls off his face and his jaw ticks. “I have no intentions of killing you, Aspen.” He tells me, seemingly thinking I meant I would talk to her in the afterlife. I smile.
