Chapter 251
The look on Griffon’s face is almost comical if it wasn’t such a serious situation.
His shock wipes away and his eyes glaze over. I watch as the entire pack starts to retreat back to their homes. Whispering and praying that what I said is true.
He doesn’t speak until there’s no one else around, then he glares up at me. “How dare you speak lies like that to me.” He growls and I just shake my head, all signs of joking or sarcasm wiped clean from my face.
“I’m not lying, Griffon. They’re alive, and they’re… Suffering. Horrendous amount of suffering.” I tell him and his jaw drops as he stares at me like he’s never seen me before.
“Lies.” He growls and I close my eyes. How do I make him believe me?
I open my eyes when I hear Dallas fall to his knees. I look down at him and his shaking body and he shakes his head back and forth.
“No. No. No. No.” He whispers and Griffon looks down at him as well. “What? Dallas, they can’t possibly be alive. We watched them die!” He gets angrier as he speaks, looking over at me, glaring. “Why are you doing this?” He begs and I shake my head, “I’ve been having dreams. Your mom being tortured, your dad begging the universe for help. Your grandma’s there too.” I whisper to him, and he scoffs.
“So, we’re supposed to just take your word for it because you’ve been having nightmares?” He asks, and I shake my head. “I know things, Griffon. I don’t know how, but I do. I knew something was coming when the witches came, I tried to warn you.” I plead with him to believe me, but he just shakes his head.
“Stand up, Dallas. It’s all lies. Don’t believe a word she says.” Griffon growls and Dallas listens but keeps staring at me. I grit my teeth.
“Remember that day, Griffon! Remember it. You were covered in blood.” He interrupts me, “Yes! My mother’s blood!” He shouts and I nod. “Yes. Only your mother’s! Do you remember smelling your dad’s blood at all? Because I don’t!” I shout at him, and he takes a minute, looking down at his shoes like he’s trying to recall every detail.
He shakes his head, “That doesn’t make sense. Either way you said my mom was alive.” He says and I nod.
Waiting for him to put it together, but he takes too long, so I spell it out.
“Buckets of your mother’s blood was drained from her. Buckets, Griffon. The witch found a way to fool you… us
. Everybody! Your mother is alive, I promise you that. And I’m going to save her and Liam, with or without your help.” I tell him and his eyes shoot to mine, before looking over at Dallas who’s rubbing his fist over his chest staring off into the night.
“I’ve felt it. This whole time. I thought it was grief, or my anger, or hell just the pain I deserved for not protecting her better, but it’s been her this whole time.” Dallas whispers, still staring off like she’s going to appear there.
My face changes to pity as I watch the last two years flash before his eyes. “You couldn’t have known.” I whisper and his eyes slowly meet mine. “I should have known.” He whispers and I shake my head.
Griffon scoffs, “You couldn’t have known anything, because it’s not true. I watched them die. I watched as their bodies evaporate into thin air. They’re dead and I’m done discussing this. I want you gone. I want you out of my

pack and I want you too never…” He pauses to look directly in my eyes, “Never come back, Aspen.” He growls before storming off in the opposite direction from his house and to the woods.
Dallas’s eyes meet mine again after we watch him stalk away. “Aspen. Is this really true?” He whispers and I nod. “They’re hurting, and I’m scared Dallas. If we don’t get to them soon… I’m scared Amy really will die…” I whisper back to him.
His jaw clenches and he reaches for the key in his pocket. Unlocking my shackles and pulling me down off the stage. “I’m coming with you.”
I nod, having already expected that.
I look back at the woods once I’m standing on my own feet next to Dallas.
I knew he wouldn’t believe me. I knew it with every fiber of my being, it’s why I haven’t said anything. I couldn’t risk saying it and him throwing me out or locking me up for good before Hazel was free. Even if he did believe me, I don’t trust he would have let Hazel leave. His distrust of witches is probably not going to go away even if his parents are alive.
