My eyes squeeze shut, but I don’t stop listening. I can’t if this is the most I can do to experience it with her, then that’s what I’ll do. It doesn’t even compare, but the scars on my soul from not being able to protect my mate bleeds.

Heather whimpers and I look over at her, “When?” I growl and Heather doesn’t understand but Micah stares into my soul. “They started moving the second they took us. They’ll be here soon.” He grits out, staring at the door down the hall and holding Heather to him tightly.

The envy I feel at the sight of them together is ridiculous, but I can’t help it. What I wouldn’t fucking do to hold my mate in my arms again.

The screaming heightens and my body shakes, and then it just… Stops. I turn and look at the door. It never ends that quickly.

Never.

I wait for the doors to open, but they don’t.

The lights flicker and I look up at them. What the hell is going on?

I look over at Heather and Micah, but they’re looking around confused to. I don’t think this has to do with the

rescue.

The door clicks open, and the guards walk out, but they don’t bring Amy with them.

My eyes wide as I try and figure out what’s going on. The guards walk passed us as I scream at them to tell me what’s going on, but they just walk passed like I’m not speaking.

Mom grabs my arm, but I shake her off, slamming into the bars and shaking them with all my strength. Why’d she stop screaming?

I’d know if she were dead, but that doesn’t mean they didn’t hurt her to the point of death.

My heart shutters in my chest as I think of all the possibilities. Then the door the guards walked through slams open, and the two guards fall through it on their backs.

They start to mumble something, but their cut off quickly when Dallas and Griffon, both stab them through the throat.

I close my eyes and let out a relieved breath as I listen to them choke. I may not have been the one to do it, but at least I got to hear it.

I hope they burn in hell.

Griffon looks up and nearly falls over when he sees me. Dallas pats down the guards and finds the keys, then runs over to us. He doesn’t stop at Heather’s he comes straight to mine.

The head of the key jumbling as his body shakes from seeing me, his eyes wide as he looks at me like I’m not really there.

He looks further into the cage and then back at me, “Where is she?” He whispers, and I growl. “Just open the

fucking door, Dallas!” I whisper shout and he nods, turning the key.

As soon as the doors open, I don’t bother with reunions as I sprint to the room.

I don’t know what I’ll find, but I need to be with her. The door swings open, and the stupid witch has her back to me, and is staring at a limp Amy on the table.

I don’t wait for her to turn around. I grab her head and snap her head to the side. Throwing her to the ground, and wishing to the Goddess, I could access my wolf.

Griffon stalks in behind me, and his hand shifts into his claw and he reaches down and rips out her heart. I smile in satisfaction, before turning back to Amy.

“Angel.” I whisper, my hand on her cheek, but she doesn’t respond.

She’s breathing, but her shirt is covered in blood and she’s not waking up. I grab underneath her and lift her into my arms. My soul screaming as I’m finally reunited with her. Even if she isn’t conscious.

I turn and look at Griffon, and he just stares at both of us, his hand bloody and breathing heavily as he looks between our faces. “Your alive.” He whispers.

“We need to get your mother help! Now!” I shout, and I look at the door and see everyone standing there in shock. “We don’t have time for this. We need to go.”

I hold on to Amy like my life depends on it as we make our way through a maze of tunnels. My strength weaning as we run through it.

Walker looks over at me, “Give her to me. You need to keep up your strength.” He tells me, and I growl, glaring at him and pulling her closer to me. “Don’t fucking touch her.” I snarl through gritted teeth, and he looks at me surprised, before understanding crosses his features and he nods.

Dallas keeps looking over at us from my other side and I know he feels the same way as Walker, but I’d sooner
