“Can we trust them?” I ask Heather, while glaring at the doctors ready to take Amy back. Heather places her hand on my shoulder, “I trust them, Dad. They’ll help her, I promise.” She tells me, sternly.

I grit my teeth, leaning down to kiss Amy’s forehead, before they take her away from me.

We just got reunited and I already have to let her go again. My heart feels like it’s falling apart.

Heather grabs my hand, and starts walking me to the waiting room. When I sit down everyone is silent.

There are so many things I’m sure they have to tell me, but I don’t care about any of it. I love my children with my entire heart, but my life is back there on that gurney, and I can’t think straight right now.

Things feel different. Tense.

I don’t like it, but I also am having trouble caring, so I don’t ask about it. Once Amy’s better we can talk and catch

“Liam, we didn’t know.” Walker says and I look up into his shattered eyes. I shake my head, of course they didn’t know. Amy told me how the witch made it look like I died, and we assumed she did the same to her.

“How long were we gone?” I ask my voice croaking slightly from the nonuse. Heather looks over at me, “Two years.” She whispers, and I curse.

Two fucking years. For two fucking years that bitch tortured my mate, and I couldn’t do anything to stop it.

“You and Julia should get checked out too.” Hazel says, and I shake my head. “I’m fine.” I tell them and no one fights me on it. My mom shakes her head, and looks at me worried.

She’s seen a side of me she’s never had to see before in those cages. A side where revenge and anger was the only thing I knew. She’s worried about how coming back will effect me, and I don’t blame her.

But the only thing that will cause me to flip out again is if Amy isn’t okay. The witch is dead, and there’s not

much more I can do on that front.

“Call me when she wakes up.” Nick whispers to Mia, and Mia nods, before Nick starts to leave. Dallas looks over at him but doesn’t say anything, and Nick doesn’t even look his way.

Nick glares over at Griffon before he leaves, and Griffon looks down at his feet.

Weird.

Now that I’m looking at it though, everybody’s being weird. Heather is next to me with Micah and Aspen. Nobodies sitting next to Griffon. Dallas is standing looking out a window. Hazel keeps glancing over at Cole, like she’s nervous about something. And Mia and Walker are both sitting there looking at the wall.

What the hell happened while we were gone?

“I don’t know what happened while we were gone, and I don’t care. I need you all to suck it up and keep it from Amy. She’s been through hell and the last thing she’ll need when she wakes up is knowing that you guys all fucking hate each other.” I growl, looking each of them in the eyes.

I see a lot of clenched teeth and tight fists, but eventually they all nod.

I nod and look up at the ceiling, trying to erase the last two years from my mind. If they never happened, then everything would be fine. Amy and I would be happy. Everyone else wouldn’t be acting like they want to kill someone. My dad would still be alive. Goddess.

I look over at the doors and pray they open soon.

“Dad, what happened?” Heather whispers, and I shake my head and look back at the ceiling. “Nothing.” I whisper.

I’m not going to sit here right now and explain it to them, not to her. She’s seen more than I would have liked her too, and I’m not going to spell it out for her. Amy was always better at this talking crap.

After a long time, I finally look up and look at Walker. He’s already looking at me, “It seemed too easy, don’t you think?” I ask him.

His face falls as he thinks back on everything, then he nods. “Yeah, it was almost like we did what they were wanting. The two guards barely put up a fight.” He whispers.

My jaw ticks. What the fuck does that mean though?

“You think they wanted us to kill them?” Griffon asks, and Walker swallows then nods, while refusing to look at
