Chapter 276
My mom left a little while ago, saying she was going to go check on Amy. So, I’m left going through the books in Cole and Hazel’s old house with Hazel.
I can’t believe Griffon didn’t get rid of these. Maybe he didn’t know about them. They have their own room down
believe Gr
in the basement, so maybe he’s never been down here.
We’ve been told the rules; no one can mention anything we find to Amy. The witch can control her now, and if she knows what we’re planning she can try and put a stop to it.
I read another paragraph before my eyes decide they just can’t read anymore today. “What did you do last time? Why won’t it work this time?” I ask her and Hazel sets down her book and looks over at me.
“Because it didn’t work last time. He said the only way to kill the entity was to kill him. I mean I guess we can set the entity free, but then it might find another host. Amy would never allow that. Plus, the witch told Amy this time is different, that she’s stronger. We might just be risking Amy’s life at that point.” She tells me and I sigh.
“Do you think she left anything in her underground torture cell that may be able to tell us anything?” I ask her and Hazel tilts her head. “Maybe. That’s not a bad idea.”
“”
I nod. “I’ll go.” I shrug, having no problem in helping that way rather than reading and reading and reading. Not alone you won’t.” She tells me and I smile. “I came to rescue you alone.” I joke and she rolls her eyes. “That was different, and you know it.” She tells me and I nod, “Yeah, I guess. I’ll see who I can get to go with me. I’m sure Liam will offer up anyone he can if it might help.” I tell her.
She agrees and I go to stand. “Be careful, Aspen.” She tells me and I smirk at her, “I’m always careful.”
She scoffs, “We both know that’s not true, and it’s also not what I mean.” She says cryptically. I smile at her and leave her house, looking at the time, it’s late, but I doubt Liam went home, not without Amy there.
‘You with Liam?’ I mind-link my dad. His response is instant, ‘Yes. We’re at the office.’
I make my way over to the pack house and walk my way to the office. I knock on the door and walk in. Seeing Liam discussing something with Griffon by the desk and my dad pacing in front of the window. He stops when he sees me, and his eyes turn to Griffon before returning to me.
“I didn’t realize you were coming.” He tells me and I smirk, “I just need to ask Liam something.” I tell him, walking further in the room and sitting down in the same chair I sat not long ago when I tried to kill my mate.
My eyes don’t turn to him, as far as I know he’s made no move to fix things with anyone, and I don’t care to talk to him until he does.
Liam looks up at me, and I smile at him. “I need some people to go with me to Kirksville.” I tell him. He glares at me, “Why do you want to go back there?” He asks, and I shrug. “Figured the witch may have left something for us to find.”
He continues to look at me, but it’s my dad who speaks up, “No. We’ll send someone else. You don’t have to go.’ He says, and I shake my head. “Dad. I can sense things that others can’t. I need to go to make sure nothing is missed.” I tell him then look back at Liam’s calculating eyes.
“I’ll go
with her.” Griffon offers. “No.” My dad says instantly, Liam looks over at his son then up at my dad. “It might be good. He can address the pack, then get away for a little bit, while everything calms down.” Liam tells
