Full Moon Curse (by Dream) novel Chapter 308

Chapter 308

This week went by way too quickly, and standing here waiting for their cars to meet us at the pack house without my mate by my side, just feels wrong.

“Stop moving so much. Goddess, you even look nervous.” Cole hisses from beside me, and I instantly freeze up. My hand that was drawing circles on my thigh and my foot that was bouncing up and down stopping as I glance over at him.

“This is a bad idea.” I tell him and he shakes his head. “Everything will go fine. The spells set, we just have to act normal. Which means you need to straighten up.” Cole responds and I nod as I nervously look over towards the street they’ll come down.

Calm down… Everything will be fine…

The first car pulls around the corner and I see the line of cars pull up behind it. All of them parking and slowly getting out of their cars, looking around at all the changes already.

Alpha Charles is the first one to start talking. “Hope you don’t mind, Liam. A few of the wives wanted to catch up with Amy and help get her better.” He shouts as he starts walking closer to me.

My body wants to freeze, but I try not to let it affect me. ‘You got this.’ Cole mind-links me, and I start to walk towards Alpha Charles. “Sorry, I’ll have to make sure she’s up to it. I don’t want anything overwhelming her right now. She needs to rest.” I tell him the excuse we came up with in preparation of something like this happening. He nods, “I understand. My mate can be the devil when she’s sick.”

I reach out to shake his hand, and chuckle at his joke. His mate slaps his arm, then wraps hers around his looking at me. “I get it, I’ll just have to do some shopping while I’m here. Maybe you can help me get ahold of Mia and Hazel. We always love getting together when we visit.” She tells me, and I glance over at Walker.

“They’re already on her way. They’re excited to see you, Jenny.” Walker informs her and her smile brightens. Oh, great!” She exclaims, letting go of her Alpha’s arm and walking over to the other mates that came to wish Amy well.

Charles looks back at me. “Looks like the girls will be entertained. Shall we…” He says motioning behind me.

“Yes, about what happened to you. What is it that has your mate bedridden so long after your rescue?” Malachi asks, and I take a deep breath. Another question we prepared for.

“She was tortured… She had wolfsbane coursing through her blood for two years, along with silver fragments, that we’re still working on removing. I can honestly say her recovering is slow and very difficult, on top of all the emotional trauma it all caused.” I explain to them.

Faces around the room drop when they hear just a fragment of the torture she went through, and I look each of them in the eye. “Look. Amy and I are one of the main reasons this alliance exists in the first place. I realize that things happened to push us out of it, but we are working to make things better.” I explain and Charles nods, “Yes … We can see some of the changes. My question is… When you do pass down the torch, who are you passing it down to? Clearly, your son is not an option.” He tells me and I glare at him.

“My son was not ready to take on the responsibilities of becoming Alpha. I had just started training him when I fell. He’s been training with me every day since my return, and I assure you when I do pass on the torch, he will be ready.” I answer and I can tell we’re about to have it out.

I glance over at Cole, and he smirks with a thumbs up, then goes back to glaring at Charles. I keep the smile off my face, but honestly, it’s nice to see a little of the old him showing. Things have been so tense around here. And for some reason… It gives me hope.
