Full Moon Curse (by Dream) novel Chapter 324

Chapter 324

I spend more time in my own head with Leah and the witch then I do in the waking world anymore.

My thoughts are heavy and conflicted, but here… Here I can pretend that none of this is happening. At least until the witch comes to talk to me.

But even that seems different. Like in another life, a different upbringing… Her and I could have been friends. She’s smart and funny, and at times she even seems caring.

It makes me wish I knew her before the complications of life got in the way. Who was she before my dad showed up on her doorstep?

“Have you ever thought about it?” My eyes snap open and I’m looking into hers as she stands over me.

The confusion must be plastered on my face because she giggles, actually giggles and looks over at the open fields of flowers. “Dallas? Have you ever thought he might have been the one.” My eyebrow raises and she waves her hand, “I know you guys have the mate bond bullshit, but before that. Did you ever think he was the one? He’s cute. And he treats you like freaking royalty. I think he’d cut out his own heart if it meant saving you.”

I roll my eyes, “First of all, I’m not his type and second, that’s just his Gamma blood coming through. It’s literally his job to protect me. I know he cares for me beyond that, but it’s just never been that way between us. We’re just family.” I explain and she looks down at her hands. “Family… It must be nice.” She looks over at me, To have people you know you can count on no matter what.”

I swallow, “Did you not have that? With your sister?” I ask her, and she sighs heavily. “I thought I did, until she betrayed me.”

“She betrayed you by helping me?” I ask her, and she nods. She looks down at my hand where a small scar still mars my skin from the crazy night when those men attacked us. I still have several scars from the years I didn’t have my wolf, but this one is still the most noticeable. “She used your blood that night. She used your blood that night, to protect you from me. She knew where this was headed and what I wanted to do, so she was trying to stop it. Granted, if she was smart and not so freaking caring she would have just killed you right then and there. Prevented any of this from happening. Prevented your offspring, prevented the Moon Man… He would have died, Amy. If you had died from someone else’s hands… He would have died and none of this would have happened.”

My thoughts run wild with all the new information, and trying to figure out how to use it to our advantage. She gives me a small smile. “It won’t work this time. My mom used her power to put an entity inside of your father. She was rewarded with power whenever he would kill someone. I went a different route. I placed myself inside of you. I don’t get rewarded until my job is done. Killing yourself or having someone kill you won’t help you, because I am you.”

I take a deep breath, “Except yourself.” I tell her, and she looks at me confused, I stare into her soul, “I had blood on my hands before your daughter. You didn’t sacrifice her for the greater good or whatever, you just put her in a position to be killed. You’re willing to sacrifice everything except yourself, because you’re the most important thing to you. You don’t have a cut off because you’re WILLING to sacrifice everything else. It’s because you have nothing to sacrifice. So, I guess we’ll have to see which one holds more ground.”

We stare at each other for a long, hard moment, before I continue, “I may be willing to die if it meant all of them got to survive, but roles reversed they would to. I’m not the only one here that would do anything to make sure all of them stay safe we all would, because we’re family. We’ve always been family. And even with the end of the world pending, we’re still family. Something stronger than anything you could do to us, we’ll figure this out, because you’re alone whether it be in your soul or in my head, whether you have an entire army behind you. YOU are alone. We’ll win this, because no matter our problems, we never face any of this alone.” I tell her, standing up and looking down at her.

She nods thoughtfully, then stands to join me. Her eyes flash red as she glares into mine. “Maybe, but don’t worry, soon you’ll understand how I feel. I hope you understand exactly what loneliness can do to a person.”

She reaches forward and grabs my arm, and the last thing I hear is Leah’s snarl before everything goes black.

And everything stays black.
