Chapter 51

“Don’t for a second think it’s because I didn’t want to talk to you, Amy. I’ve felt connected to you since we were kids. Abandoning our friendship was one of the hardest and stupidest things I ever did. Staying away from you proved harder, especially once I turned seventeen. For some reason, I had a pull towards you that I had to fight every day. I figured you’d tell me to go fuck myself if I tried talking to you after four and a half years. Which if I’m not mistaken, you practically did.” He smirks looking over at me. “What are you talking about? I never told you to fuck yourself!” I exclaim, confused. He chuckles, “The day I tried to give you a ride home.” He states, and the light bulb clicks on in my head. I purse my lips, “Alright, but I made some pretty valid points. I stand by those.” I joke and laugh.

I look over at him, “So, you really need to thank Dallas then.” I chuckle, he stops me. His arms wrap around my waist, and he pulls me closer to him. “I really do. Amy, I can’t imagine you not being in my life anymore. I know I’ve hurt you in the past, but I’m so happy you’re giving me a chance to redeem myself. I’m not letting you go again.” He says and then leans down and gently pushes some stray hair behind my ear. My eyes close at the contact and when I open them back up, Liam is staring deeply into my eyes. Everything in my life falls away, everything that has ever happened to me disappears and I’m left with only Liam’s bright green eyes searing into

mine.

It’s almost like I can read his mind through his eyes, and all I see is pain. Pain of hurting me, of leaving me, of losing my trust. It’s almost enough for me to melt into him.

He’s looking over my face, seemingly trying to read something but stops and starts walking again, pulling me with him. We take a few more turns here and there, I can’t believe how big this tunnel system is. Definitely a lot bigger then I remember. We finally reach the end of the tunnel and step out. It’s a wide-open field, with trees on the outskirts. Blue skies for days and in the middle of the field I see a picnic set up. As we get closer, there’s a brown woven basket laying out on a green checkered blanket. A few blankets folded up to the side and a small rechargeable heater pointing at the blanket. I chuckle when I see the heater, ah me and my human self, while he’s wearing shorts. I look up at him and smile, “When did you have time to set this all up?” I ask, because there’s no way he was gone from my house for more than two minutes. He smiles, “I may have had some help there.” I laugh, “The guys? They helped you do this?” I ask. “Well, I’m pretty sure my mom and Mia helped to. He answers, I smile. “It’s beautiful, Liam. Thank you.” I say kindly as he looks down at me sweetly. He leads me over in front of the heater and puts a blanket over my legs and one over my shoulders, and then walks over to the basket to pull stuff out.

To my surprise he pulls out two hot meals on plates and chuckles, “Yeah, I’d say my mom definitely helped.” I laugh with him, and then he pulls out two wine glasses and a bottle of wine. He pours some for both of us and we sit there for awhile eating and drinking, enjoying the occasional joke. Once we finish our meal, it’s starting to get dark. I look up at the starry sky, you can see the stars for miles out here. The bliss and happiness of tonight, finally starts to fade and I find myself looking back at Liam. To my surprise, he’s already starring at me, I take a sip of my wine. “Liam, why did you do all this?” I ask him shyly, looking down at my hands clenched against the wine glass, scared to squeeze to hard because I don’t want my cast to break the glass.

It’s not that I don’t appreciate the night, but we haven’t declared anything, and this feels like a date. He turns his head and looks up at the stars before speaking, but doesn’t answer my question. “You know, this is where I came the day after I told you I didn’t want to be your friend anymore.” I stare over at him in wonder, while he still looks at the stars. “I didn’t know where I was walking to after I turned away from you, but I just kept walking and ended up here. I stayed out here all night, until Dimitri found me. I had just gotten my wolf, so everyone was worried something bad had happened. They were all so happy I was okay, but…”
