Chapter 64
The party starts around nine, and Mia has me dancing with her in the middle of the room. She’s so excited and everybody’s yelling happy birthday to her. She hasn’t really gotten a big party like this before, she always wanted to spend her birthdays with me, and me being the outsider I was, wouldn’t go to any big parties. She’s seventeen now, and beyond excited about being able to find her mate in a year. I think she secretly wants it to be Walker, but she’s to stubborn to admit it. She says they’re just having fun, until one of them finds their mate.
I wish I truly understood the importance of a mate. The love that you find in one, like they’re the missing part of your soul. The never-ending confidence that comes along with it. When I think about it, all I do is picture Liam. But that’s the thing, it can’t be the same thing. It’s extremely rare for a wolf to mate with a human, and I don’t understand those feelings. Would it even feel the same for the human? Would the human have the feeling of never wanting to be apart from this person, or would it just be like normal human love while their mate was obsessed with them?
I don’t know, but I need to stop thinking about it. Thinking about mates always makes me think about the fact, Liam has one out there waiting for him. His feelings for me seem so serious, but I doubt they even come close to comparing with an actual mate bond. “What are you thinking about?” Dallas says walking up to me, with a worried look on his face, handing me a drink he made for me. I smile the best I can, luckily Mia’s to drunk to notice my mood has declined. “I think I just need some air.” I say to Dallas, and he nods ushering me towards the door. I see Liam stand up and then glance at Dallas. They must be doing that mind-link thing, because Liam begrudgingly sits back down, watching us walk outside.
We go to the side of the house where there aren’t any party goers, and I lean against the house. He leans next to me, but doesn’t say anything for awhile. We just stand in silence, and it lets me cool down my thoughts. “So, you finally realize you should have dated me?” Dallas asks, and I laugh. “What?” I ask surprised by the question, surely he’s joking. He smiles over at me, “Nah, you love him. Don’t you?” I don’t say anything and look away. I decide to change the subject after a couple of minutes. “Did you ever like me like that, Dals?” He smiles and looks over my face. “Nah, I mean if Liam wouldn’t have grown the fuck up and started talking to you again, I definitely would have tried something eventually, but unfortunately, he did.” He laughs and shoves me a little to the side. Okay, so he’s joking, good. I didn’t want to have to feel bad about that.
“What’s got you upset, Aims?” He asks, looking way to sad by me being upset. I sigh loudly. “It’s nothing really. I was just thinking about the fact that Liam has a mate out there waiting for him, and what will happen to me once he finds her.” I say quietly, not really wanting to talk about it, but also wanting to talk about it. It’s confusing. “That’s right little human. You’re just taking up time until he finds the right person. He doesn’t care about you, he’s using you.” Clara’s nasty voice comes from behind me. Dallas’s eyes go black, and he starts heading over to her.
Once he grabs her and starts to put her over his shoulder to remove her, she stabs something into the side of his neck. “What the fuck?” I ask, as I run over to Dallas’s unconscious body laying on the ground. Clara shrugs and turns her eyes to mine, “Amy, when are you going to learn? I will always find a way to get to you. You are nothing to him, he was just at my house last night, complaining that you wouldn’t sleep with him. Don’t worry though, 1 took good care of him for you. I will always be around to make your life miserable, and he will never want you for anything other than keeping one side of the bed warm, and once he gets what he wants I’m sure he’ll run. And once I’m Luna of this pack there won’t be anywhere for you to go, because Liam will be mine, and I’ll make sure every second you spend here will be miserable.” She tells me, looks at me with disgust, shrugs and walks away.
Last night? How did she know we hadn’t slept together? Why would he be confiding in her? Unless he wanted to sleep with her. I hear Dallas moan, and I shake all of that out of my head to make sure he’s okay. “Dallas? Are

you okay? What did she hit you with?” I ask worried. He moans a little and sits up, looking over me frantically.” Are you okay? Did she hurt you?” He asks quickly, pulling me closer to him. “I’m fine Dallas, just concerned about you!” I yell at him, and he looks me over one more time. “I’m fine, I think she must have hit me with a low dose of wolfsbane. Fucker, I’m going to kill her.” He grumbles, still looking over my body. “What did she say to you?” He asks angrily, I just look down and shake my head. “Nothing.” He pulls up my face and tries reading my eyes, but there’s no point in telling him. He’ll just deny everything on Liam’s behalf. I was prepared for something like this to happen, and for the most part she told me things I already knew. I was stupid for falling for him. “You’re lying.” He says angrily and stands up bringing me with him.
