I walk out with them and give them all hugs saying I’d see them in the morning. When I say that I look over at Liam’s house, I guess I don’t know if I’ll see all of them or not. That thought makes me sad, but I try and hide it, even though I’m not fooling anyone.
Dallas heads over to Liam’s house and everybody else heads home. I stand there watching them leave, but I get the sense someone is watching me. It freaks me out, so I head back inside. “Sweetheart, you need to go get some sleep. Be up early, so we can get the car packed and you can say your goodbyes, okay?” I nod and head up to my
room.
I sit at my desk for a while after that, just going through some of my stuff. I unfortunately put my headphones in one of my bags, so I’m sitting here in silence. That is until I hear what sounds like a footstep across the hall. My mom went to bed hours ago. Maybe she’s anxious like me though and can’t sleep. I slowly walk over to her room.
I’m about to knock when I see a giant man, at least seven feet tall. Broad shoulder and brown hair, and glowing red eyes, walk out of the guest room. He turns and sees me, and an evil smile takes shape on his face. I finally find my feet and run into my mom’s room, locking the door behind me.
She’s sleeping to her side away from me, and I go and shake her to wake her up, but she doesn’t flinch. I shake harder and go to move the hair out of her face so she can see me when she wakes up. “Mom… mom…” I whisper, yell then I see blood falling down her forehead, with the faint light coming in from the bathroom. “Mommy?” I cry, whispering to her to wake up. I shake her violently, crying for her to wake up, when I see a bullet hole in her head and fall back off the bed. I crawl backwards on my butt as far away from her body as possible, until I hit the wall. I stare at her frozen, she’s dead.
I’m pushed out of my state of shock when her bedroom door flies open and the man from the hall, is staring directly at me. I scream, but it doesn’t even phase the man as he inches closer to me. He bends down next to me, and laughs. “Silly girl, no ones coming for you.” I see the gun in his hands now, he has a silencer on it. That’s why I didn’t hear it. I look back over at my mom, “Why?” I ask, looking him in the eye. He looks back at my mom, and I take the opportunity and all the training Walker has given me, not waiting for an answer. I kick him in the head as hard as I possibly can and take off running. I barely make it out of the door, when I feel a sharp pain coursing through my shoulder making me fall to the ground.
I look back and see him slowly walking towards me. He grabs me by my hair and throws me up against the wall, close to the stairs. “You know, over the years I’ve started enjoying this part of the job. Killing my own. The tech has become better, and the people less suspicious. Except your mom, she found a way to hide from me. How old are you now?” He asks me, as I watch him closely. “Seventeen.” I shakily answer. “Seventeen! Ha! So, eighteen years! Your mom managed to keep you hidden for eighteen years!” He exclaims, seemingly proud of my mom. What do you mean? Who are you?” I ask and he gets a extra creepy smile on his face, looking down at me. “Well Amy, I’m your father.” He answers and laughs loudly at the confused look on my face. His eyes are closed laughing and his head bent back, apparently this is the funniest thing in the world to him. But I take off. I run as fast as I can and shoot out my front door, Ignoring the second sting of pain in my back. I know he’s shot me again; I can smell all my blood. I just have to make it across the street.
I pass over the guard that was on my house, Greg, he has a family, two kids. I don’t think he’s dead because his cord cutting would have informed the Alpha. This guy is smart he knew that, he knew he couldn’t kill him without an army of people coming. But me and mom aren’t part of the pack they wouldn’t have sensed that.
I run like my life depends on it, because it does and finally make it to Liam’s. I have no idea if this guy is following me or not, but I’m not turning around to find out. I race through the front door, and slam it shut,
