Full Moon Curse (by Dream) novel Chapter 8

Chapter 8

I’m not sure what I’m doing at this point, I just know it upset me to see Dallas so upset. As the school day comes to a close, Mia and I walk out of school together. I didn’t ride my bike to school today, so I guess I’m walking home again. Being friends with Dallas is already becoming inconvenient, I laugh inwardly.

I’m about five minutes from school, when a car slows down next to me. “Figured you already forgot about me.” I laugh as I turn expecting to see Dallas. I’m met with the fiery bright green eyes of Liam. My smiles instantly dies. “Dallas had something he had to take care of. Get in.” Liam orders, I just stare at him with a blank expression. Once I finally control my thoughts inside my head, I can finally find my voice. “I’m fine, Liam. I’ve walked home alone before. I don’t need a ride.” I don’t wait for a response and keep walking.

I hear his car screech to a stop, and him start yelling. “Goddess dam it!” I hear his car door slam shut and footsteps following behind me. “I wasn’t asking, Amy! Get into the car!” He orders loudly. I turn around and see him fuming from my lack of respect towards him. Jokes on him, I’m not a member of this pack, everyone here has made that extremely clear. The only people here I have to respect are the alpha and Luna. By time Liam takes over, I’ll be long gone. I smirk at him, “No.” I turn around and continue walking. “Amy! You’re Dallas’s girl now, I just want to make sure nothing happens to you.” He says calming down his anger. Ha! What a joke! I can’t control my anger at this point. “Are you kidding me right now?” I shout back at him, he just shrugs, seemingly unbothered by any of this, though he was just shouting at me moments ago. I laugh a humorless laugh, “First, I’m glad to know as future Alpha of this pack the only people you care about are the people inside your circle. I’m sure you can run a pack only caring about the top eight of the pack. You never gave a shit until I meant something to one of them. Second, I’m not Dallas’s girl. We are friends. Friends Liam, hardly seems worthy of the protection of your kingly self. I’m sure Dallas has a few other friends that would be more then happy to have your protection, but I’m not one of them. Leave me alone.” I rage and take off running as fast as I can. I know if he really wanted to, he could catch me, but I’m really banking on him feeling like he fulfilled his sense of obligation.

I hear his car door slam shut, and him peel off driving like a crazy person. Good, at least that’s over with. I slow down and start walking at a normal pace, taking my time to get home, not wanting to run into him again. Thank the Goddess it’s Friday, and I don’t have to see any of them again until Monday.

When I walk inside my house, I can smell the fresh baked cookies as soon as I walk in. Mmmm, I love when my mom bakes me my favorite chocolate candy chocolate chip cookies. I run into the kitchen and find her at the her table, I throw my arms around her shoulders and squeeze tightly. As a nurse I don’t get to see her often, schedule is always all over then place. I kiss her on the cheek and grab a fresh cookie off the table. It’s so good, still warm, melting in my mouth.

She smiles over at me, she’s so beautiful. She has the same platinum blonde hair that I have, though a little longer almost reaching her butt. She has the same bright blue eyes as well. She’s a little shorter than me, about five, five, where I’m about five, seven. She says I got my nose and chin from my father, though I wouldn’t know. I’ve never even seen a picture of him. “How was school?” Any time she can, she asks me this question. Though I’ve never really talked about my school troubles with her, I think she knows on some level. “School was interesting.” I tell her, knowing she’ll be excited about me actually having something to tell her, that isn’t about some good grade I got. Her eyes instantly light up, “Oh? Do tell.” I laugh at her, and her need for the inside scoop. “Well, I made a new friend, I think.” I say with a shrug. I’m sure when it all goes south, I’ll regret telling her about this, but I have trouble keeping things from my mom. It even kills me to keep the bullying to myself.

I’d swear if her eyes could shine any brighter, she’d be a Christmas tree. “Who?” She asks. “Dallas.” I say flatly, finding it hard to believe he might actually be my friend. “Dallas… As in Liam’s Gamma Dallas?” She asks,

knowing she’s right. This pack is decent sized, but everyone pretty much knows everyone here, especially the future leaders. I nod my head and look in the fridge for something to drink.

Grabbing some apple juice, I study my mom’s face, because she hasn’t said anything yet. She seems to go through a mix of emotions, starting with anger and ending with consideration. She finally looks up at me, That’s great sweetheart. Just be careful, he’s still growing up. Young boys don’t always have the best interest of young ladies in heart.” Gross, is this my mom’s version of the sex talk with me? “Mom, stop. I said friend, nothing more!” She looks at me, seemingly trying to read my mind. “Okay sweetheart. I’m going to head to bed, I have to work tonight, but I wanted to see you for a minute. Be good.” She says with a sweet smile and heads up to her room.
