Chapter 101 The Price Doubles

Nira’s POV:

Marcus stepped closer, his gaze sharpening as his wolf eyes locked onto mine. “My dad might look stable right now, but who knows if it’ll come back? This isn’t fully cured yet, so why should we pay you already?”

From the floor, his son snapped angrily, “Yeah, exactly! You want your money? Let me go first!”

I didn’t even glance at him. My fists tightened as I looked straight at Marcus. “What exactly are you trying to pull? The Cruz family signed a contract, thirty million to treat Reginald. I saved him. Now you’re backing out?”

He really thought I was someone he could push around just because I didn’t show a wolf.

The pressure building in my palms almost broke into claws, and I had to force it down.

Preston quickly stepped in, his expression strained. “Miss Lane, please don’t misunderstand. My brother’s just worried about our father, that’s all.”

I let out a cold laugh. “If this is how the Cruz family honors a deal, then I don’t see any reason to play nice.”

Before anyone could react, I moved. I shoved Marcus’s son to the ground. He hit hard and immediately started writhing, groaning in pain.

Marcus lost it, baring his fangs as he lunged at me.

Preston grabbed him instantly. “Marcus, don’t!”

The authority in his voice cut through the tension, forcing Marcus to stop. Preston turned back to me, tone controlled. “Miss Lane, let’s calm down. The money will be paid, every cent. But please, release my nephew first.”

I met his gaze without flinching. “I’m not asking for thirty million anymore. I want sixty.”

“What? Sixty million?” Marcus’s wife shrieked. “Are you out of your mind? You can’t just double the price like that!”

I walked over and sat down casually, glancing at the boy still rolling on the floor. I lifted two fingers. “There are two patients now. Price doubles.”

“You’ve gone too far!” she snapped, but her voice faltered when she looked at her son. She could only glare at me, furious but silent.

I turned back to Preston. “If you think it’s too much, we’re done. I’ll walk out right now. Whatever happens to Reginald after that isn’t my problem.”

Preston frowned, thinking it over for a long moment before finally speaking. “Fine. Sixty million. Miss Lane, once my father wakes up, I’ll hand it over personally.”

I nodded. “Works for me.”

I walked over to the boy and tapped several points along his body. Almost instantly, his screams stopped, and he could move again. The second he realized it, he scrambled away from me, putting as much distance between us as possible.

I brushed my hands lightly. “Let’s be clear. Reginald’s condition won’t be cured in one or two sessions. Each treatment is thirty million. Whether you continue is your choice, but think it through.”

Then I added, “Now get me a room. I need to rest.”

Preston didn’t argue. He signaled the butler to take me to a guest room, clearly needing time to think.

Not long after, I was called back.

When I stepped into the room, Reginald was awake, looking at me with genuine gratitude. “Miss Lane, I owe you my life. If it weren’t for your skill, I wouldn’t be here right now. My son and grandson were out of line earlier. I hope you won’t take it personally.”

I gave a small, calm smile. “No need. You paid, I treated you. That’s the deal.”

Reginald didn’t argue. Instead, he had the butler call Marcus and his son in. The moment they arrived, he snapped, “Apologize.”

They clearly didn’t want to, but under his pressure, they had no choice. “Miss Lane, we were wrong earlier. Please forgive us.”

I could hear the reluctance in every word, but I didn’t care. I glanced at Marcus. “It’s fine. Just don’t forget the thirty million for fixing your son.”

Marcus’s temper flared again. “Don’t push your luck. You don’t even have a wolf, don’t get ahead of yourself!”
