Nira’s POV:

They appeared slowly, one after another, emerging from the darkness at the end of the hallway.
Orange prison uniforms stood out immediately, and as they drew closer, the details became impossible to ignore. Their wolf ears were torn, their eyes glowing with a feral/bloodthirsty light, and their claws were stained with flesh that looked far too fresh.
Their faces were twisted, their expressions hollow, their lips moving as if they were whispering something I couldn’t fully hear.
And then I recognized them.
They were my former cellmates.
Only now, they looked far worse than anything I remembered.
“Nira… come play with us…”
The voice came from right beside my ear, cold and hollow, like it had crawled up from somewhere deep and dark.
I tried to call Lyra.
There was no response.
Panic surged instantly as I realized she wasn’t there. They were getting closer.
“No… no…” The words came out as I shook my head, my body trembling uncontrollably as sweat gathered along my forehead.
I tried to fight it, to force myself out of whatever this was, but the harder I struggled, the deeper I seemed to sink.
They reached for me, those clawed hands stretching closer, carrying the stench of decay with them.
The fear broke through everything.
I screamed.

Chapter 104 Trapped in the Dark
The sound echoed down the hallway, swallowed whole by the darkness.
No one answered.

Kade’s POV:
“Help…”
The sound pulled me out of sleep instantly.
Her voice was faint, strained in a way I had never heard before, stripped of all the control she usually held onto so tightly.
I sat up and looked toward the bed.
Nira was trapped in the nightmare, her eyes shut tight, her breathing uneven, her entire body tense. Sweat lined her forehead as her hands moved restlessly, like she was trying to push something away.
I moved to her side and grabbed her shoulders. “Nira, wake up.”
There was no response.
If anything, she struggled harder, one of her arms swinging up suddenly enough that I had to shift to avoid it. I caught her wrists and pulled her in, holding her firmly to keep her from hurting herself.
That was when she bit me.
The pain was immediate and sharp as her teeth broke skin at my neck. I felt the warmth of blood almost instantly, but I didn’t let go.
Odin reacted just as quickly, his anger surging up, demanding to take control. I forced him back, holding him in place with effort.
Then, just as abruptly as it had started, she stilled.
Her grip loosened slightly, but she didn’t pull away. Instead, she held onto me even tighter, like I was the only thing keeping her grounded.
I stayed there, letting her hold on, listening as her breathing gradually slowed and steadied. Without thinking, I lifted a hand and rested it against her back, moving it in a slow, steady

It struck me then that I had never done this before, not with this kind of patience, not with
anyone.
And certainly not for someone everyone believed didn’t even have a wolf.
Moonlight filtered through the curtains, casting faint patterns across the floor as the night stretched on.
Looking down at her, quiet now, I found myself thinking about everything that didn’t add
Someone like her didn’t just appear out of nowhere.
A girl from Blazeborn Pack, dismissed, underestimated, shouldn’t have been capable of everything she had already shown.
There was more to her story.
And I intended to find out what it was.
Nira’s POV:
When I opened my eyes again, morning light had already filled the room. For a moment, everything felt still.
Then I realized something was wrong. I looked down and froze.
I was holding onto Kade.
“You’re awake,” he said, his voice rough with fatigue.
I pulled back immediately, the movement too fast and unsteady, nearly slipping off the bed in the process.
His hand caught my arm before I could fall. “Careful.”
“Thanks,” I said quietly, steadying myself.
He gave a small nod and let go, then got up and walked into the bathroom without saying anything else.

Chapter 104 Trapped in the Dark
He didn’t mention why he had been in my bed.
He didn’t mention why I had been holding him.
But I didn’t need him to. I already knew what had happened.
I must have lost control again. Still, something didn’t feel right.

Every time I went through one of those episodes, the room would be a mess by morning, furniture out of place, clear signs that Lyra had taken over.
This time, everything was perfectly intact.
I looked around carefully, checking for any trace of claw marks or damage.
There was nothing. Relief came quickly. At least Lyra hadn’t been exposed:
But that only made things more confusing.
No one had ever been able to calm me down like that without me completely losing control first. Not even my foster father.
So how had Kade managed it?
I was still turning that over in my mind when the bathroom door opened and he stepped out.
I looked at him directly. “I had a nightmare last night?”
He nodded once. “Yeah.”
I frowned slightly, the question already forming. “Then how did you get me to calm down?”
