A man in a wheelchair was pushed into the room, a line of uniformed police officers following close behind him.
The entire venue fell quiet almost instantly, conversations cutting off mid-sentence as every head turned toward the young man. Eli’s expression changed almost imperceptibly, the color draining from his face before he forced himself back into composure. He stepped forward slightly, his voice lifting with a carefully crafted note of surprise.
“Edwin, you’re awake,” he said, the words carrying a strained warmth. “That’s… really good to hear.”
Edwin was pushed to the front, and when he lifted his head, his wolf eyes burned with a deep, bloodshot intensity, the hatred in them unmistakable as they locked ohto Eli.
“Of course you didn’t want me waking up,” Edwin said, his voice steady but edged with cold fury. “As long as I stayed unconscious, you could pass off my nanobot thrombosis project as your own.”
The room erupted instantly, shock rippling through the crowd as reporters surged forward, cameras raised, flashes firing in rapid succession as they captured every second.
Eli’s face went pale again, but he forced out a cold laugh, clinging to control. “Edwin, what are you talking about? That project is the result of years of my work. Just because we studied together and worked on the same experiments doesn’t give you the right to claim it.”
He spoke with confidence, but there was a tightness beneath it, a crack that hadn’t been there before.
He had been certain the fire erased everything.
He had been certain there was no evidence left.
“You tried to wipe me out along with my data,” Edwin continued, his voice cutting cleanly through the noise. “You thought one fire would take care of both. Too bad it didn’t.”
He pulled a thick stack of documents from his bag and raised them high enough for everyone in the room to see.
“These are my research records, from the earliest stages all the way through clinical trials. Every page is signed. Every fiie is time- stamped.” His gaze sharpened as it fixed on Eli. “Go ahead. Tell them I’m lying.”
This time, Eli couldn’t hold it together.

Panic flickered openly across his face as he turned sharply, his voice breaking its composure. “That’s ridiculous. Security, get him out of here!”
The security team moved immediately, but they didn’t get far before the officers stepped forward and blocked them.
One officer held up his badge, his tone firm and official. “Eli, we’ve received a report that you’re involved in the theft of intellectual property for commercial gain. You need to come with us and cooperate with the investigation.”
That was the tipping point.
The room dissolved into chaos as reporters flooded forward, voices overlapping in a barrage of questions.
“Mr. Soren, how do you respond to these accusations?”

Eli and Damon stood there, completely cornered, their faces dark and rigid as the pressure closed in, neither of them able to offer a single clear answer.
Nearby, Damian was quickly surrounded as well, but unlike them, he remained composed, his posture relaxed, his expression controlled as he faced the press.
“Everyone, let’s take a moment,” he said, his voice calm but carrying enough authority to cut through the noise. “As an investor, I’ve always had high expectations for this project from Soren Group. What’s happening today is unexpected, and frankly, disappointing.”
He paused just long enough to let the weight of that settle before continuing, “If Edwin’s claims are accurate, then this isn’t just a breach of business ethics, it’s a serious violation of scientific integrity. I fully support a thorough investigation and will cooperate
with the authorities to ensure the truth comes out.”
Cameras flashed even more intensely as every word was captured.
In just a few sentences, he had already distanced himself completely while reinforcing his position.
Then, turning toward Edwin, his tone shifted slightly.
