Chapter 194 Jealousy
Nira’s POV:
Honestly, I wasn’t shocked to hear that. Deep down, I felt like I’d known the truth all along.

I glanced over at Kade’s unfairly handsome face–the kind of sharp, rugged good looks that made every she–wolf in the pack lose her mind—and I couldn’t help but mutter under my breath, “You really are a magnet for trouble.”
Kade dropped his gaze and brushed a hand across his cheek, his face set with an earnest, confused expression as though silently pleading that he had no say in how he was born.
I rolled my eyes at him and turned to leave.
He hurried to catch up, walking beside me as he tried to explain carefully, “Look, I’ve only run into Valerie a couple of times. We’ve never hung out one–on–one or anything…”
I stopped dead in my tracks. For some reason, irritation flared up in my chest, hot and sudden. I shot him a glare. “And yet, you’ve still got her completely obsessed with you. She’s come after me more than once. If we hadn’t cancelled the engagement, I swear she would’ve shifted right there in the stable yard and tried to rip my throat out.”
The second those words left my mouth, I smacked my forehead, frustrated with my own outburst. I had no idea why I was getting so emotional over this. Feeling my face heat up with embarrassment, I turned on my heel and ran off.
Kade’s POV:
So, Nira was angry because of Valerie.
Does that mean she was jealous?
The thought caught me off guard, but then a slow warmth spread through me.
I followed her into the classroom at the training center and took my place at the podium. Throughout the lecture, my eyes kept drifting down to where she sat. She looked upset the entire time, and it gnawed at me like an itch I couldn’t scratch.
I spent the whole hour planning exactly how I would explain everything to her once class was dismissed.
But the moment the bell rang, she acted as if nothing had happened at all.

“Kade, I’ve thought it over. Set up that meeting with your friend for me. Just let me know when.” She walked up to my desk, cool and composed. You wouldn’t have guessed she was furious just minutes ago.
“Oh. Okay, sure.” All the speeches I’d rehearsed in my head instantly died in my throat.
I should have been relieved she wasn’t angry anymore. But the more I thought about it, the more it bothered me. If she could dismiss the Valerie thing so easily, did that mean she didn’t care about me at all? Was nothing more than a mentor to her?
I remembered her calling me “Master” in the SUV earlier. Maybe that’s all I was to her an instructor who answered her questions.
I debated just telling her how I really felt. But as the weight of my dangerous reality settled back on my shoulders, I couldn’t bring myself to say the words.

was tost in throught when Jett walked in. Before I could stop myself, the question just slipped out. “Jett, be honest. Do you think I’m old?”
Why else was I so paralyzed that couldn’t even confess to a girl! liked?
“Huh?!” Jett nearly jumped out of his skin, fumbling his coffee cup and splashing a little on his uniform.
He gave me a look like I’d grown a second head. “Mr. Howell, you’re in your prime. You’re at the top of your game. How could you possibly be old?”
I pressed my lips together, unsatisfied.
I wasn’t talking about my actual age, What I really meant was whether Nira looked at me as someone from a different generation.
Frustrated, I waved him off. Jett walked out looking totally bewildered.

Over the next week, the regional qualifiers for the National Cyber Defense League took place. The competition was hosted by the most prestigious wolf academies in the country, and the winning team would secure a direct spot in the national finals.
Before the matches began, I arranged the meeting between Nira and Noah Watson.
“Noah, this is Nira. The one I told you about.” I made the formal introduction.
“I didn’t expect the famous Miracle Healer to be so young. The future of our kind is definitely in good hands!” Noah greeted her with a warm, easy smile, sizing her up with evident admiration.
Nira shook his hand politely. “The rumors are exaggerated. But My. Watson, holding a high rank at your age is impressive in itself. It’s an honor to meet you.” She offered a polite, humble smile–respectful without being submissive.
Noah laughed, waving off the compliment. “Ms. Soren, you’re too modest. I’ve heard a lot about your medical skills and your research. Specifically, that Moonweal Tincture you developed. It’s a massive breakthrough for our field medicine. I wanted to meet personally to discuss a potential collaboration.”
Nira nodded, her expression turning serious. “Noah, the serum really is effective for the severe injuries high–ranking wolves sustain. If we can mass–produce it and integrate it into military care, I believe it would save a lot of lives on the front lines. But right now. the bottleneck is definitely the cultivation of the active ingredient.”
Just like me, Noah’s eyes gleamed with respect as he looked at her. He spoke sincerely, “We can tackle the supply problem together. I understand you’ve developed a proprietary cultivation method. If we can scale that up, the shortages should resolve. As for any other resources you need–funding, equipment, personnel–just tell us. The military will back you fully.”
Nira considered this for a moment before replying, “Cultivating the herb requires a strictly controlled environment. I can provide the technical protocols and guidance, but it will take time and experimentation to optimize the process for large–scale output Plus, true mass production requires a full manufacturing line and a rigorous quality control system. All of that needs to be blueprinted before we start.”
Noah nodded to show he understood. “None of that is an issue. We can establish a dedicated task force immediately. You’ll overee the technical side, and my team will handle logistics and project management. As long as you have confidence in the science, we’ll move heaven and earth to make it happen.”
Nira’s demeanor was focused and professional. “Good. Time is critical. Let’s get the project up and running as fast as possible. Our goal is to get the Moonweal Tincture into mass production ASAP”
