Chapter 220 I’ve Already Met That Child
Jett’s POV:
From the rearview mirror, I could see Mr. Powell’s tightly furrowed brows and pale face. My heart sank.
I’d never seen him like this before. Not once had he wavered during the Howell family’s internal conflicts, on the battlefield, or e when facing political storms powerful enough to shake the entire Pack Alliance. No matter how bad things got, he always remain calm and in control. As if nothing could truly shake him.
But now, he sat in the back seat looking exhausted and broken, and the sight filled me with worry.
“Mr. Howell…” I spoke carefully. “Are you alright?”
He didn’t answer immediately. After a long moment, he rubbed the bridge of his nose. Then quietly asked, “Any news about Nira
I studied his expression before replying cautiously. “Not yet. We’ve only managed to uncover something from more than twent years ago. There was a legendary healer back then. A very famous one. The person may be Ms. Soren’s master.” I hesitated. But around twenty years ago, the healer suddenly disappeared. No one knows where they went. No one has seen them since.”
The moment I finished speaking, I noticed his expression darken. I quickly added, “Mr. Howell, if that person was truly known as miracle healer, their medical skills must be extraordinary. Ms. Soren is with them now. She’ll receive the best treatment possible. forced a reassuring smile.
“And once the poison is gone, she’ll come back,” I spoke with certainty. “After all, she still hasn’t finished her agreement with you regarding the medicinal herb auction. She’ll definitely come back.”
For the first time in days, some of the tension left his face. His lips moved slightly, almost like he was talking to himself. “That’s right…” His gaze drifted out the window. “I still owe her something.” A faint light returned to his eyes. “She’ll come back.”
A few moments later, he suddenly gave a new order. “Jett, take me to Noah’s office.”
‘Yes, Mr. Howell.” I immediately changed directions.
Kade’s POV:
Regarding Nira… I needed to speak with Noah personally.
When Noah learned that Nira had been poisoned, he looked just as anxious as I felt.
“Kade.” His expression was grave. “If you manage to contact Ms. Soren, tell her not to worry about the medicinal herbs or production projects. We can handle those. The most important thing right now is her recovery.”
I nodded. “I will. If I hear anything, you’ll be the first to know.”
After leaving his office, I ignored Jett’s attempts to stop me Instead, I returned directly to work
Half a month passed, and Kade never returned to the Howell estate. Even Edith assumed he was burying himself in work because he couldn’t handle Nira’s disappearance.

“Only Jett knew the truth. The reason he locked himself away wasn’t grief, but Mary.
After learning such a crual truth, he still didn’t know how to face her.
Unfortunately, Mary wasn’t willing to leave things alone.
The moment she learned Kade had survived yet again, she completely lost control.
She shifted into wolf form, destroyed everything she could get her hands on, and demanded the guards release her.
Edith had finally reached her limit. She stormed into the room.
Slap!
A loud crack echoed through the air.
Mary staggered backward. Five bright red finger marks instantly appeared on her cheek. She pressed a hand against her face. hatred burning in her eyes.
Edith trembled with rage. “You poisoned Kade! I haven’t even settled that account yet! How dare you throw another tantrum?”
Mary suddenly burst into a sharp, ugly, almost mad laugh. “He’s my son. I gave birth to him. Whether he lives or dies should be m decision.”
Edith almost stopped breathing. She stared in disbelief. “How can a mother be this cruel?”
Mary’s wolf eyes flared. She pointed directly at Edith. “Cruel?” Her voice rose higher. “You people are the reason my life became ike this! My life was ruined because of all of you!”
Edith looked at her coldly. Disgust filled her eyes. “Since the day/you married into this family, neither Gideon nor I ever mistreated you. You were given the title of First Luna. You enjoyed wealth,/status, and respect. So tell me. Where exactly does all this hatred come from?”
The question seemed to snap something inside Mary. She exploded. “1 NEVER WANTED TO MATE WITH GIDEON!” Her scream echoed through the room. “It was all of you! YOU FORCED ME!”
‘Ridiculous!” Edith slammed her cane against the floor. “The Howell family has never forced anyone! Your father was the one who proposed the alliance! We only agreed because of him! So where exactly was the coercion?”
She stepped forward. “And after you married into this family, Gideon treated you like a queen, He never wronged you. Not once. What more did you want?”
Mary laughed bitterly. Tears mixed with rage in her eyes. “What did I want? I had already found my fated mate! I loved him!” Her voice cracked. “If Gideon hadn’t told my dad he wanted me, my dad would’ve never forced me into this marriage just to climb higher!”
She shook with emotion. For all these years, I’ve never lived the life I wanted. I hated him. I hated all of you. I hated the entire Howell family!”
Kade’s POV:
Mom was still screaming when I arrived at the estate.

+stopped at the doorway, listening and watching in silence. For some reason, all my emotions were gone, leaving behind nothing
but numbness.
When she noticed me standing there, something vicious flashed through her eyes. Then she sneered. “Kade, you’re back.” A cruel smile spread across her face. “Good, then let me tell you something.” Her eyes locked onto mine. “I never wanted you either.” Every word felt like a knife. “When I was pregnant with you, I tried over and over again to get rid of you.” Her voice was cold and heartless. “I failed every time. You should never have been born.”
The room went silent. Grandma froze. Her face turned white. Then she pointed at Mom with a trembling hand. “Those accidents…” Her voice shook. “Back then… they weren’t accidents at all?”
I had heard the stories before. When Mom was pregnant with me, something always happened.
She slipped, fell, ate the wrong things, and got sick.
Everyone thought it was bad luck. No one expected she’d done it deliberately.
But honestly? None of it surprised me anymore. I’d already prepared myself for her hatred.
Taking a slow breath, I looked at her indifferently. Then turned toward Grandma. “Grandma, you should go rest. I’ll handle this.”
She hesitated, but eventually nodded. Then quietly left the room.
The moment the door closed, Mom laughed. Her eyes dripped with mockery. “What? My dear son. Are you here to ask why I never oved you?”
She let out a cold laugh. The words that followed were vicious beyond belief. “Because I never loved your dad. I hated him. I hated the Howell family. Your birth was never wanted. You should never have existed.”
I looked at her quietly, then let out a cold laugh. “You think saying that will hurt me?” I spoke calmly, almost unnaturally so. “You think I’ll collapse? Become depressed? Spend the rest of my life drowning in misery?” Her expression shifted slightly. I took a step forward. “Then you can smoothly take control of Howell Group. And eventually use your position as First Luna to control the entire Pack Alliance.”
Her face changed instantly. Panic flashed through her eyes. “W–What are you talking about?”
Without answering, I slowly reached into my pocket. Then pulled out a DNA report. I threw it onto the table. The sousid echoed through the room. I met her gaze with eyes that were cold, sharp, and utterly merciless. “I’ve already met that boy.”
