Nira’s POV:

“It’s alright, I’ll go set it up. There’s not much I can help with down here anyway.” Desmond headed back up the stairs. “I remember seeing an old recording over at Grandpa’s place the one where my uncle officially asked my aunt to complete the mating bond. I’ll go grab it.”

“Then I’ll go keep an eye on Killian,” Natalie said, following him up. “So he doesn’t cause another scene when he wakes.”

Kade walked over and rested a hand on my shoulder, his voice soft. “Mr. Hawke and Natalie were mated mates. They were so deeply in love back in the day… and now he doesn’t even recognize her.”

“All because of Dina,” I muttered, anger simmering inside me. I almost let Lyra take over right then–just to sink her teeth into that woman’s throat.

“Natalie lost her newborn daughter over twenty years ago… and now Mr. Hawke is like this.”

My heart ached for her. It felt like her whole life had been one tragedy after another. The Moon Goddess hadn’t been kind to her at all.

Kade’s arm settled gently around my shoulders. “We’ll find a way through this. Together. We will help Mr. Hawke get his memories back.”

I leaned lightly against him. “I hope so.”

Upstairs, Natalie sat beside Killian’s bed, her fingers tracing the lines of his face with a tenderness that held years of love.

His lashes fluttered, then slowly, his eyes opened.

Natalie held her breath, afraid to move.

“Natalie?” Killian’s voice was rough with sleep, but his gaze was clear. “What are you doing here? Where… are we?”

She took his hand, hope flickering in her chest. “Killian… you know me?”

He smiled–that gentle, familiar smile she hadn’t seen in so long. “Of course I do. You’re my fated mate.” He glanced around, confusion touching his expression. “Is this a hotel? I thought we were at the library cramming for finals.”

Natalie’s smile froze. His memory had rolled all the way back–back to their college days, more than twenty years ago.

“Killian… it’s 2026. We’ve been together for over two decades.”

“Stop messing with me,” he laughed, shaking his head. “We’re only juniors. How could we possibly have been mated for twenty years?”

Natalie didn’t correct him again. She just watched him, her heart a mix of warmth and sorrow.

“C’mon, I want to take you somewhere.” Killian slid out of bed, energy in his movements, and pulled her toward the door.

Swallowing the tightness in her throat, Natalie went along. “Alright. Where are we going?”

He winked, playful and secretive. “You’ll see.”

He led her–without hesitation, as if he’d walked the path a thousand times–to an upscale boutique.

“Mrs. Hawke-” the store associate began, but Natalie subtly raised a hand to stop her.

“Hi,” Killian said brightly, pointing toward the display window. “Could you let my girl try on that light blue dress? The one in the window?”

The associate glanced at Killian, clearly confused, but nodded politely. “Of course, sir.”

A warm, bittersweet feeling washed over Natalie.

This was exactly how it happened–the hundredth day after they’d acknowledged their bond. Back then, Killian had brought her here, mysterious and excited, and bought her that dress with the first real money he’d ever earned.

Years later, they bought the boutique itself. And that dress had remained in the window ever since, preserved like a treasure.

The associate carefully retrieved the dress. Killian turned to Natalie, his eyes glowing. “The moment I saw it, I knew it was meant for you. Go try it on.”

“Okay,” Natalie replied softly, tilting her head with a smile that felt both young and weary.

She took the dress and guided the associate toward the fitting room. Before stepping inside, she caught the woman’s eye and shook her head slightly–a silent request not to speak to Killian. The last thing she needed was for someone to say the wrong thing and break this fragile moment.

Kade and I were going through our notes when my phone buzzed–Natalie.

Her voice was layered with emotion, half excitement and half urgency. “Nira, Killian’s memories have returned to twenty years ago. He’s taking me out on the lake soon. I need your help-”

“Say no more,” I cut in softly. “We’ll handle everything.”

“You’ve got two hours,” she reminded me, tension threading her words.

Time was tight. I straightened up, already shifting into planning mode.
