Nira’s POV:
He didn’t look away.
His fingers kept tapping, slow and deliberate, like he was counting something out in his head,

“You need to be realistic,” he said. “Without my channels and my name behind it, even a product like this won’t break into every pack across the alliance anytime soon.”
He paused, then added casually, “Except maybe Silvermoon Pack. They’ve never exactly followed Howell rules.”
I almost laughed at that.
If he had any idea.
But I kept it together, meeting his gaze like nothing had crossed my mind.
“You just said I wasn’t someone who’d stay small,” I said, my tone calm. “Which means this isn’t a one–time deal. This is just the start. There’s more money down the line than what we’re talking about right now.”
I held his eyes, not backing down.
“If you’re set on seventy, then I’ll look elsewhere. I’m not locked into working with the Howell family.”
The room went quiet after that.
It wasn’t tense in an obvious way, but there was something there, like both of us were testing exactly where the other one’s limit
was.
After a moment, he exhaled slightly.
“Fine,” he said. “Fifty–fifty.”
Then he added, “But one condition. This deal is with me, not the Howell family.”
That worked for me. I held out my hand. “Deal”
He took it, a smile returning, this time with real interest behind it. “I’m looking forward to seeing what you do next.”
Right then, Jett walked in and leaned down, saying something quietly in his ear.
Kade didn’t react much. “Got it.”
I had heard every word anyway.
That kind of reach didn’t surprise me anymore. At his level, information moved fast, and very little slipped through.
Still, it reinforced one thing. Aside from Silvermoon Pack, there probably wasn’t much in this world he didn’t know about.
He looked back at me, something sharper in his expression now.

“Your brother Aven got jumped at the hotel,” he said. “You’re not going to check on him?”
I didn’t hesitate. “You’re asking the wrong person. If anyone cares, it’s Janice.”
He didn’t push it.
Instead, he shifted topics like it hadn’t mattered.
“Your father’s in a good position,” he said. “Two alpha heirs. One running operations, one already making a name for himself in law. And then there’s Eli, deep in research.”
He watched me as he kept talking.
“Word just came in, his nanobot project made a major breakthrough. They can locate clots precisely and break them down using engineered enzymes. Early trials are showing higher success rates with lower complication risks. If it holds up, it won’t just change treatment standards. It could pull your family out of the situation they’re in.”
I picked up my glass and took a sip, letting a brief pause settle in before answering, “You’re interested in that?”
He didn’t deny it. “If it works, it reshapes the entire field. And money will follow.”
That much was obvious.
His instincts were sharp, exactly like people said.
“Maybe,” I said, setting the glass down. Then I looked at him, letting the meaning sit just beneath the surface.
“But opportunities like that don’t come without risk.”
I held his gaze for a second longer.
“You might want to wait before jumping in.”
