Tessa

Walking aimlessly in at the riverbank, rewinding Logan’s declarative words and also sinking the infused humiliation, I didn’t know for how long I blame yself for bringing this upon myself.
The young, naïve girl who wanted to marry the love of her life, who was confident that one day her love would change his perspective and see how deeply she loved him. The young Tessa brought it upon herself.
My phone rang multiple times, a couple of calls were from Logan as well but he was the last person whom I wanted to see or hear his voice.
It was around nine but I didn’t want to return to the house where same feeling would haunt me but I had no other choice.
Lucas must be alone and waiting for me.
The poor child had no idea about the tension in his family and also that soon I would have to leave him.
“Mrs. Wilferd.”
Logan’s head of security’s voice forced me out of my reverie and I saw him approaching me with long strands.
“William, what are you doing here?” I asked him with a frown because his working hours weren’t over yet.
“I and the team had been searching you. Your phone’s location was trace here. Ma’am, you need to come home because your safety can’t be compromised.” He said in his professional tone.
“I’ll hail a cab, William. You don’t need to take the trouble.” I forced a smile.
“I am sorry, Ma’am but I have received strict orders from Mr. Wilferd to ensure your safety since it’s night time and you’re in a busy area.” He turned down my request.
I wanted to laugh. What was Logan trying to prove?
Why acting all caring and good?
“Tell your boss not to bother himself and you for me. I am an adult and I am well capable of taking care of myself and soon, I’ll be a nobody. He should rather worry about his future wife.” I said with bitterness.
The alcohol in my body was playing with my fragile emotions.
“You’re his family, Ma’am. He has the right and reason to be worried about you.” William said in a sympathetic tone.
It wasn’t a surprise for Logan’s staff that their boss‘ lover was back and the wife had to leave soon. William followed Logan everywhere like a shadow so what Logan and Raelynn were doing, he must have witnessed it all.

However, I silently followed him to the car, it was Logan’s personal SUV.
Upon reaching home, I decided to slip into my room first because I didn’t want Lucas to see my tear
smeared face and feel bad for me.
Once I was under the running water, I closer y eyes and let all the pain flush out with the water. I decided to act strong and ghost Logan and his lover for the remaining time.
But I wasn’t going to give up on Lucas.
Changing into my comfortable night pyjamas, I went to the kitchen to fetch a cup of coffee since my appetite was lost and my headache was killing me.
“You shouldn’t have run like that.”
Logan’s deep yet quiet voice reached into my ears and I spotted him standing at the threshold of the kitchen door. He has still in the same clothes but his sleeves were rolled up to his elbow and the first two buttons were opened.
His messy hairs indicated that he had run his fingers through them multiple times.
I tore my gaze from him and decided to leave the place quietly because I had to work on the portfolio of my past work that Adrian asked me to prepare.
As I was about to walk past him, he gently grabbed my arm. My heart almost skipped a beat when his cold fingers touched my skin.
“I am not done talking to you, Tessa so don’t try to run away.” He said, his tone deeper than before and I could feel that he was irritated.
He hated being ignored.
“Logan, there’s nothing to talk between us. Please, excuse me. I am tired.” I said in a flat tone that I never
used with him before.
“How did you get this?” His eyes narrowed on the bruise I got at my uncle’s house.
“It’s none of your concern, Logan.” I slowly detached myself from his hold and walked forward.
“Tessa, how did you get this bruise? Did you fall or someone hurt you?” He asked me, this time blocking my way, his gaze was hard.
I took a deep breath and stared at him without any emotion.
“Logan, I want you to stop whatever you’re trying to do. Please, it’s just two of us here. You don’t need to pretend that you care for me or something like that.” I said in a straightforward manner,
“Are you still mad at me about the evening incident? Come on, Tessa. We both know the truth and didn’t we agree that you’ll leave in twelve days? I don’t think I have offended you in any way.” He let out his frustration.
