“Hey, love. I am sorry, I had to drop Mom at her friend’s place. I hope I hadn’t made you and Lucas wait for long.”
Raelynn took hurried steps towards me and wrapped her slender arms around me for a tight hug. The mention of his mother made me remember the bruise on Tessa’s arm. I decided to talk about it later because I’d not tolerate such kind of hostility.
I didn’t want them to hurt her just because they think that she took Raelynn’s place when she had already agreed to take her exit.
“It’s okay, we arrived here five minutes ago.” I said and paused before holding her hands.
“Ray, he doesn’t know that you’re joining us. You know how stubborn he is. He’d not leave Tessa if I had told him about you. So, be patient with him and don’t mind if he says some rude words because he’s still upset with you for misbehaving with Tessa.”
Her smile dropped.
“Lucas is my son. How could she brainwash him against me? I told you, Logan if she keeps stealing Lucas‘ time when I am doing my best to win his trust. You need to do something about it.” She said, her tone was laced in anger.
“Calm down, Ray. She won’t be here soon. You’ll have all the time to bond with him. In fact, it’ll be easier since he’d be lonely. Kids are innocent. You can win him by your love.” I tried to convince her because I didn’t want more drama in my personal life.
“Promise?” She pouted.
“Promise, now let’s go inside. Lucas is alone there.” I said and she looped her arm around mine.
Lucas was eating ice–cream inside the parlour, lost in his own world and talking to William.
“Luke, baby.” Raelynn loosened her hold around me and approached our son.
Lucas stopped eating and turned his head to glance at us. His smile faltered when he saw Raelynn.
“Dad..” He jumped from the chair and ran towards me, ignoring Raelynn in the way who was about to hug
him.
“Luke, my boy. You should warm up to her. She isn’t a bad person.” I gently said to him who looked startled and his face told that he was about to cry any moment.
“But she said bad words to Mommy.” His lips quivered.
“Luke, I am sorry. I didn’t mean to hurt Tessa. Please, give me a chance. I really want to be friends with you.” Raelynn rubbed his back, her facial expression was apologetic

But he turned his face to other side. I gave her an apologetic look before heading at the backside of the parlour to talk to Lucas.
“Dad, I want to go home. I miss Mommy.” His eyes were teary,
“Luke, please, listen to me.” I knelt down to hevel and held his shoulders gently.
“I want to be with Mommy.” He whispered in a low voice,
I felt bad for my son. The changed equations in our lives were affecting him and I couldn’t do anything
If I wanted my happiness, then it was about to hurt my son but I knew neither I nor Tessa would be happy if I choose to continue my arranged marriage for the sake of my only child.
I was standing at the crossroads.
“Please, try to give her a chance for me, Luke,” I cupped his face and caressed his head.
“I will ask Uncle William to take me back home if that Auntie say more bad words about Mommy ” He said grumpily.
“Sure, in fact, I will immediately take you home, I promise.”
I sighed in great relief when he finally agreed to spend the day with Raelynn.
“Come, let’s go. We’ll go to see a new place, I am sure you’ll love to help us to decorate it.” I said picking
him in my arms.
“A new place?” He frowned.
