“Calm down, Tess. We received news from your security that the police have found Lena. Logan must be coming back with her.” Ruby, who came back into my room, told me with a big smile.

My heartbeats accelerated and new tears formed in my numb eyes.

“Really? They found my daughter?” I asked not believing on my ears.

“Yes, Lena is safe and unhurt. Now, be a good girl and clean yourself first or your own daughter won’t recognize you.” Ruby joked.

I was over the moon. I didn’t know how hard those ten hours were for me when Lena was in the hands of wicked people.

“Yes, please, help me to the washroom.” I said while trying to gain my strength.

“Come here.” Ruby held her arm gently and helped me to reach the washroom.

I cleaned myself and looked at my reflection in the mirror. I looked terrible with swollen eyes and messy hairs.

Meanwhile, there was a knock on the door.

“Tessa, you have a call from a private number.” Ruby said.

I walked out of the washroom and received the call.

“Hello, who is speaking?” I asked in a normal tone.

“Tessa, how are you, my dear cousin?” I heard Raelynn’s voice from other side and my blood boiled.

“How dare you?” I growled.

“Calm down, Tessa or your blood pressure will burst your veins.” She said with a laugh.

“Raelynn, what do you want this time?” My voice was deadly cold.

“Oh, my innocent Tessa, you don’t know what I want from you?” Her voice was dramatic.

“Raelynn, stop playing this dirty game or you have no idea what I can unleash on you.” I warned her and this time I was serious because my daughter was the target.

“Tessa, don’t give empty threats because I know a weakling like you can’t even hurt a single hair on my body. So, don’t even think about hurting me.” She laughed.

I clutched the hem of my clothes tightly.

“Anyway, I forgot to ask you the question why I called you on the first place.” She acted normal and it was annoying me even more, “I learned that you’re a mother now. You and Logan have a daughter

My blood ran cold.

Raelynn knew about Lena. What if she was the one behind Lena’s abduction?

“I swear if you ever dare to hurt my baby again, I’ll kill you with my own hands, Raelynn Cowper.” I yelled. on the phone.

“What are you saying, Tessa? Did someone try to hurt your baby? I am sorry to hear that but don’t blame me because I have nothing to do with it. I have been away from the city for three days now.” She said.

But it was enough to confirm my suspicion that she could be behind Lena’s disappearance because only psychopath like her could think of harming a small baby.

“Tessa, Logan is here with Lena.” Ruby’s voice came.

“This won’t end here, Raelynn.” With this, I ended the call and ran out of the bathroom.

Logan was standing with our baby in his arms.

“Lena, my baby.” I took her from him and checked her body for any injury and showered kisses all over her face.

“She is fine. I already took her to her doctor for thorough checkup.” Logan told me.

Tears of happiness and pain streamed down from my eyes as I hugged my baby tightly.

“I won’t ever let you disappear from my sight, my princess. Mommy promise you.” I cried more.

“We won’t let our kids disappear from our sight again, Tessa. I promise you.” Logan said in a cold tone.

“Did you talk to the police who did it?” I asked.

He shook his head, “No, he was only a criminal who kidnapped Lena for ransom and…” He paused and looked at me with a blank expression, “He shot himself at the police station.”

It felt a hollowness in my chest. I’d never be able to find out the real culprit because it wasn’t a case of ransom but I knew someone else wanted to hurt me.

“Let’s go home. Both of you need rest.” Logan placed his hand on my waist.

I nodded my head and we left for home. Throughout the ride back home, I was thinking about all the possibilities. Raelynn was having an affair with a mafia. It’d be a piece of cake for her to target Lena because Lena was her main enemy.‘

She was the daughter of the man whom Raelynn wanted at any cost.

Upon reaching home, I felt relieved because it felt like the safest place for

“Dad called me many times. So, I am going to fill him with whatever happened.” Logan said and went to
