Goodbye, Mr. Ex-Husband, I Won't Come Back novel Chapter 137

Tessa

“Mamma.”

“Yes, baby.” I looked down at my daughter who was laying on my chest while I was stroking her hairs.

“I want to hear one more story.” She said in her sleepy voice.

“Lena, you have school tomorrow.” I said and kissed her forehead.

Gently placing her down on her bed, I stroked her hairs. She always slept on my chest and listened to stories. It was our routine for years. My kids were my whole world.

She was a bright child and outspoken. She was loved by everyone in the neighbourhood and at her school whereas Lucas was more introvert now but a very protective brother.

He took care of her in my absence. Seeing the love between my children, my heart used to swell.

Once she was fast asleep, I covered her properly with blanket and placed a kiss on her forehead before exiting her room. Lucas was also fast asleep.

It was still early for me to go to the bed, I made a cup of hot chocolate for myself and went to the backyard to enjoy some time alone under the stary night. The spring was pleasant.

Life seemed perfect, the way I pictured it four years ago when I was collecting the broken pieces of my life.

Yet something was missing.

I never dared to ask Adrian about Logan or searched about him. I didn’t have a social media account either.

“Springs nights are beautiful here.” I heard a voice and I looked on the other side of the fences.

It was my neighbour holding a cup of coffee. He waved at me with a smile.

“Yes, I love the weather here. It’s different from my old place.” I replied.

“I and Lucas practiced soccer today. His skills are improving and he’s a fast learner.” He spoke again after a moment.

“He’s brilliant but thanks for encouraging him and coaching him for free.” I thanked him.

“Please, don’t worry. They will be safe with me. I am not a crazy stalker.” He joked.

“If I’ll be free, I would take them there. Please, don’t get offended but I prefer to keep a watch on my kids because this place is still new for us.” I said.

“It’s fine. I can understand.’ He waved his hand.

“Good night, Mr. Connor.” I wished him and moved back inside my house.

“Why do you always turn him down. I think he a good person, Mam.” Kelly was standing in the kitchen. She must have come to fetch water.

“Kelly, you know I am not ready for a relationship. I can never replace Logan. We’re divorced but it doesn’t mean I buried my feelings for him as well.” I replied.

“I didn’t advice you to date him. I mean you can be friends. He is a good guy. If Lucas trusts someone, you can say that the person isn’t evil.” She insisted.

“I don’t want to give him false hopes. I know he likes me but I am not the right one for him and I want you to tell this to Alice. She’ll pass the message to her nephew. Good night, Kelly.” I told her.
