Although, I tried my best to focus on my work after coming back home, I couldn’t stop thinking about Lucas whom his father had taken to meet his biological mother.
Lucas wasn’t fond of Raelynn and whenever she’s around, his insecurities kicked in. I hoped Logan had handled the meeting with caution.
Since, I had nothing much to do, I decided to cook my own dinner because Logan texted me that they’d have their dinner outside. I gave the house staff an early leave. I had no reason to wait for them. Going for a simple meal consisting salad and spaghetti.
I had started packing my things because I didn’t wish to spend another second in Logan’s house as soon as I sign the divorce papers.
Picking my plate and a glass of wine, I decided to watch a movie to kill time in an empty house but I could barely focus on the TV screen. My mind drifted off to their date.
Hardly ten minutes passed when my phone vibrated with a text alert and I found a message from my aunt which was enough to ruin my mood. However, I ended up reading it. There was nothing new, same taunts but the attached image sent a pang in my chest.
There was a picture of Logan, Raelynn and Lucas. They seemed to walk by the sea shore in the eveni Lucas and Raelynn were holding Lucas‘ hands from both sides looking like a perfect family.
Realization dawned on me.
It was the truth, they were the real family and I was just a temporary infusion in that frame.
Losing my appetite to eat more, I dumbed the leftover food in the bin and decided to read the progress analysis that Adrian sent me. I should rather focus on my new beginning.
I had only numbered days left.
And it worked, my mood shifted on the numbers and logistics once I began to read the file. My concentration was only broken when I heard the car’s engine. They had returned. I quickly hid the file behind the cushions and plastered a neutral expression on my face when I heard footsteps coming inside.
Logan entered the house with a sleeping Lucas in his arms. Our eyes met and the picture again refreshed in my mind.
“Do you need some help?” I asked focusing on my son.
“No, I’ll carry him to his room. He’s tired so I don’t think he’d fuss.” He shook his head and moved towards the stairs.
Once I saw him entering Lucas‘ room, I quickly grabbed the file and sprinted my way upstairs to my

room. It’d be a mistake to leave it in the living room. If someone found it in the morning, they’d also tell Logan and I didn’t want him to find out anything about my future plans because it didn’t concern him.
When I thought, he’d be back in his room, there was a knock at my door and I didn’t have to guess who it
was.
“Come in.” I said and stood up.
Logan entered inside, he was still in his morning clothes, looked tired when our eyes met again but then he scanned the room.
“If you feel uncomfortable here, you can take another room. I am sure they all are bigger than this one.” He said, there was slight hesitation in his tone.
“No, there’s no need for another shifting. I am fine here and it’s only the matter of only few days and then I’ll have to vacant this room as well.” I replied.
I saw an undecipherable emotion flashing on his face but he quickly masked it.
“Tessa, I want to talk about today-” He tried to speak.
“I don’t want to know the details since it was your private time with your family. I don’t think it’s necessary for you to explain me anything.” I abruptly cut him with my words.
He remained silent.
“We went to the new house where I’ll shift with Lucas and Raelynn.”
I did my best to not show any signs of weak emotions and contoured blankness but deep down, I was hurt.
“That’s good to hear.” I forced a smile.
“I am leaving this house on your name after our divorce. You have taken care of it for years and it’d be unfair if I take it from you. The official transfer will be done in a couple of days. My always are preparing the legal papers.” He said.
