“Mommy, can you drop me at school today?” Lucas, who was ready to go to school, asked me.

Usually, his driver or Logan used to drop him at I school and my routine was to pick him after school but his strange behaviour since the morning worried me. He was clingier, always sticking by my side.

“Luke, your Mom picks you after school. I am dropping you at school. Come, hurry up, we are getting late.” Logan spoke before I could respond to my son’s request.

“I won’t go without Mom. We need to tell my teacher about our show. Mom, please, come with me.” Lucas again looked up at me with hopeful eyes and then locked my gaze with his father who looked anxious.

“Then give Mom some time, okay because I can’t go out like this and your school will start in an hour. Don’t worry, I’ll come to your school once I am done here.” I patted his shoulder.

“Promise me that you will come because I don’t want that bad auntie to come with Dad.” Lucas spoke.

Although, his voice was low, both I and Logan could hear it clearly and it put me in a difficult position.

“Lucas, don’t say like that. It’s a bad manner to talk rudely about elders.” I corrected my son.

“But she was hugging Dad yesterday. I didn’t like that. Only you can hug Dad.” Lucas, who never talked in such manner added and it made the atmosphere more awkward for me.

“Lucas, let’s go. You are talking like a brat.” Logan, who looked utterly embarrassed, interrupted his son.

“Mommy, please, come with me.” He whispered and my heart broke seeing how his insecurity was growing with passing days.

“I promise you, Luke. I’ll come to your school before recess. Please, now go with your Dad. He is getting late for his work. You are my good boy.” I tried to convince him.

He lowered his head and walked out of the house with slow steps. I wanted to run after him and hug him but I knew his father must be thinking that I brainwashed him.

“I didn’t say all these things to him, I can assure you.” I said quietly to Logan because he was still standing there.

“But this is getting out of hands, Tessa. You saw how Lucas was talking about Raelynn. He abhors her Do you think it’s healthy for their relation in the future?”

I blinked my eyes at him.

Did he indirectly blame me for Lucas‘ behaviour?

“Never mind, I know you won’t believe me even if I say it thousand times.” I surrendered in a disinterested tone.

A smile stretched on my lips when I read the name.

“Aunt Liza, you can never forget me.” I chuckled when I read the letter which was sent by my father’s

cousin who lived in Texas and owned a farm.

She wanted me to visit her at her country house and spend some time with her.

“You look happy after so many days, Ma’am.” Kelly, the housekeeper said who saw me reading the letter.

“Yes, it’s from my Aunt and she wants me to visit her. It’s a really beautiful place and I am planning to go there for a change of environment.” I told her closing the letter.

“Ma’am, will you really go? I mean it’s not my place to ask you this but you’re giving up very easily. I have been working here for years, I have seen how Ms. Cowper were when she and Mr. Wilferd lived together and I also see how he lives with you.” She said.
