“Ma’am, we can’t talk inside the house because one of the maids informs everything to Mrs. Susan Cowper. Please, my name shouldn’t come out because you know Mr. Wilferd, he’ll believe Ms. Cowper and her mother over everyone.” She said in a hesitated tone.

I was shocked. There was an informer inside the house. I wondered how Susan had every single update on my married life for last four years but Kelly was right. Logan would unleash his wrath on poor Kelly so I had to handle it on my own.

“Kelly, I’ll be careful from now onwards. Thank you for telling me but now I need you to tell me what you

have observed about Raelynn?” I asked her.

“Initially, I thought she was a first–time mother and it’s very natural for young mothers to be very sceptic about motherhood but the way she used to ignore a crying new born Lucas and asking us to take care of him in Mr. Wilferd’s absence, it bothered me because in his presence, she was a dotting mother. I didn’t have to observe more of her bizarre behaviour as she met the accident.”

Kelly paused and it gave me a moment to sync this new information.

“Ma’am, I strongly believe that she had no emotional attachment with Master Lucas. I don’t want to say it but-” she paused and fidgeted with her fingers.

“Kelly, what’s in your mind?” I narrowed my eyes at her.

“I believe that she is using Master Lucas to stay with Mr. Wilferd. I have seen her during her pregnancy. She had understood that he actually cared about his child and once Master Lucas was born, his love and care tenfold towards her.”

Her words rang a bell. She wasn’t wrong entirely but trusting someone’s assumptions without a concrete proof was also a stupidity.

“Kelly, did you ever notice something unusual about her?” I asked her.

She shook her head, “Not much except that she actually treated us as servants, always yelling at us but only when Mr. Wilferd wasn’t around. But one thing always triggered me, she used to talk over phone in most of her free time and used to end it whenever we came across her.” Kelly told me.

This new discovery about my cousin was disturbing.

“Kelly, this must stay between us. Raelynn will soon come to live here. You will be in danger if she finds. out that you were keeping an eye on her.” I warned her.

“Kelly, we’re not the one to decide. Logan loves her and I know him. He doesn’t trust someone blindly.” I said to convince her that I hadn’t bought her thy but deep inside, I was alarmed.

It wasn’t about Logan, it was about an innocent child whose life would be ruined if I didn’t look into the

matter.

“I just want you to stay because I have seen how happy your husband and son are with you. Mr. Wilferd claims to love her but whenever you’re around him, his eyes are always on you, Ma’am. I think he has feelings for you even though he denies them.” She said.

Her words constricted my heart.

I felt the same pain of unrequited love.

“He was the one who asked for a divorce, Kelly. Please, don’t romance fictions too much. There’s only an agreement between us and it is also about to be over.” I smiled humourlessly.

“Still, I believe he likes you because he instructed us not to cook salmon in the house since you don’t like them but it’s his favourite seafood.” She said and I was shocked again.

“Did he really tell you this?” I asked.

“Yes, Ma’am and he also instructed us to make balanced meals and avoid cooking the items you don’t like much.” She added,

It confused me. Why Logan was behaving strangely.
