Tessa
“He doesn’t hate me. I was dreading that he’d not want to see my face but luckily, he’s only mad at me.” Logan said. I could see the relief on his face which was stressed earlier.
We were standing outside my house. He was going back to the villa where Felix and his family were staying. My heart wasn’t ready to let him go yet but I better knew how to put a leash on my sentiments.
“You know how stubborn he is. Give him some time and he’ll melt.” I said.
There was another moment of awkward silence between us.
“Okay, I should be going now. I haven’t told anything to my hosts and also missed the birthday party. I hope Amanda won’t be mad at me.” He said but his feet weren’t moving towards his car.
The question which had been lingering in my mind, I wanted to ask him but we were on the place where I could judge him or interfere in his private life.
“Do you want to say something? It’s written all over your face so don’t hold back. I really want to know what is running in your head.” He mused.
I looked away to hide my flushed face.
“Nothing is in my mind.” I lied with a straight face but the smug look on his face reflected that he didn’t believe me.
“I am single, Tessa. You know I have been loyal to you.” He said showing me his wedding band.
I was speechless. How could he read what had been in my mind?
“I saw you with a woman other day. You both looked very close associates.” I said coyly.
His eyes widened but he composed himself.
“It means you knew that I was in the city. Why didn’t you meet me?” He looked kind of hurt.
“What was the meaning of hiding all these years when I had to show up?” I said without realizing that my words could have an adverse effect but I wasn’t in a mood to forgive him anytime soon.
“Will you still keep pushing me even when I am really not the person you think I am?” His eyes bored into mine and it was always difficult to stand my ground whenever he looked peeked into my soul.
“Logan, I was heartbroken, more importantly, I was scared for my children. You certainly failed to protect them. I still feel shiver in my body when I recall the moment Lena was being taken in front of my eyes. The Cowper family used a baby against me and it wouldn’t be the last time if I had stayed.”
“Hey, don’t cry. I know dead people don’t come back but I want to bring justice to them.” He said with warmth.
The sob that I was trying my best to hold back, it muffled out.
“Hey, calm down. No more tears.” He pulled me in a hug, it wasn’t tight.
The moment I heard the soft heartbeats of my husband, I realized how much I had missed him and his embrace.
“My Dad trusted his cousin and always said that they’d take care of me like their own daughter if something happens to him.” I cracked.
“They’ll pay for their karma, Tessa.” He cupped my face and made me look into those promising eyes.
“What about Raelynn and her boyfriend?” I asked.
“Her boyfriend?” He sounded confused and my eyes widened when I realized that he still had no idea about Raelynn’s affair with Riccardo Manchini, the Italian mob boss.
