Goodbye, Mr. Ex-Husband, I Won't Come Back novel Chapter 159

Tessa

I touched my lips involuntarily so many times that I had lost the count. The kiss replayed in my mind and every time I found my heartbeats accelerating.

“Tessa, are you okay?” Logan’s voice snapped me out of my thoughts.

He had a confused frown on his face. I realized that I was zoning out in broad daylight. He was walking ahead of me. After having lunch, he asked if I could give him a tour of the local areas since he loved the city.

“Yeah, I am good.” I quickly masked my nervousness and walked steadily to match his pace.

I agreed because I wanted to spend a little bit of more time with him to test my own feelings. Ever since he returned in my life, I could barely think about other things in my life.

“Want to grab an ice-cream?” He asked pointing his finger on an ice-cream parlour in the corner of the road.

“Since when you started craving sugar?” I raised my brow because he rarely ate sugary items as he was very strict about his clean diet.

“I make exceptions sometimes as sweets reminds me of Lucas.” He replied, a sad smile itched on his lips.

“Let’s go, they have the best flavours, not too much sugary but the flavours of real fruits.” I said to divert the awkwardness I felt.

We entered the parlour and I ordered for both of us.

“Shall we take some for the kids?’ He asked, “I want to buy ice-creams for them but only when you allow since you know their diet better than me.” He said as we relished the flavours.

“You can buy them anything you want, just don’t overdo it. Lena had her dentist’s appointment last week and she is advised to avoid sweet treats.”

A genuine smile spread on his lips.

We exchanged small talks, he mostly asked about the local places and I answered them in my best knowledge.

The front bell rang indicating a new customer but my mouth turned sour as the person was none other than the woman who was still a question mark for me.

“Mr. Wilferd, what a coincidence?” The woman approached our booth.

I concentrated on my ice-cream cup totally ignoring her as if she was invisible.

“Ms. Steller, it is indeed a coincidence.” Logan replied in a polite tone.

“I was in the market and decided to buy some ice-creams for Amanda, actually a particular flavour that only this shop sells. Am I meeting Mrs. Wilferd?” Her attention shifted on me.

“Yes, meet my wife, Tessa.” Logan introduced me with a warm smile.

“Hello.” I forced a smile as I didn’t want her to see that I wasn’t okay with her proximity with my husband.

“Hello, Mrs. Wilferd, it’s nice to finally meet you in person. I was actually curious to meet you one day and the day came very soon. Mr. Wilferd is deeply in love with you.” She said.

I stole a glance at my husband and then turned to her.

She looked harmless but I have learned my lesson. I had lived with people with dubious personalities.

“Ms. Steller, I am sorry but we need to go. The kids are waiting for the ice-cream and our order is ready.” I said.

“Oh, sure. Please..” She stepped aside to give me space to walk past her.

“Mrs. Wilferd, you can also join us. Everyone will be happy to meet you as Mr. Wilferd’s wife since they already like you for your dresses.” She asked me to join them.

“Thank you, but it’s not necessary. Logan will attend the dinner.”

“Mrs. Wilferd, please, don’t refuse. Everyone wonders who is the lucky wife of Logan Wilferd.” She kept insisting.

“Okay, Ms. Steller, we’ll be there. At what time dinner will start?” Logan spoke before me.

“Great! It will start at seven. I will text Amanda.”

“Excuse me but we need to go now. We’ll see you at the dinner.” Logan said and escorted me out of the parlour.

“Hey, why did you tell her that I am also joining you?” I narrowed my eyes at him with crossed hands.

“You started it by giving your consent in my behalf. I really wanted to spend the evening with you and the kids.” He replied in the same smug tone.

I rolled my eyes because he was right.

“I was trying to save you from being a rude guest. Don’t forget that you were invited to attend the birthday party of your sister-in-law and her grandmother. Please, don’t be a unsocial rat.”

“An unsocial rat? You don’t have a better metaphor.” He shook his head.

“Would you drive us home now or this ice-cream will go in waste.” I showed him the paper bags.

“Oh, sorry, let’s go.” He said and we walked back to where he parked his car.
