PART-160
Tessa
“Don’t be nervous. This isn’t your first time attending a dinner like this. You have done it thousand times before with larger number of people.” Logan said when he saw my nervous face.
“Logan, it’s different this time. Everyone here knew me as a fashion designer. I sell dresses to the women of this family and suddenly I become the vanished wife of Logan Wilferd. I know I don’t have a good image.” I said what had been running in my mind.
He laced our fingers and squeezed my hand.
“Don’t worry, I won’t let anyone demean you because their opinion doesn’t matter to me. If you don’t feel comfortable inside, we can walk out anytime.” He assured me.
I knew he’d protect me but I didn’t want to ruin someone’s evening. We can’t change people or their narratives, it’s better to walk away from that place rather than arguing.
Together, we entered the villa. The dinner table was set in the open garden under a canopy. I saw thirty to thirty five adults if I excluded the kids running around.
The old lady was famous for throwing parties in the city.
“Tessa, Logan, I have been waiting for you.” Felix approached us.
“Hello, Felix.” I greeted him.
“Oh, come on, give me a hug. We’re friends.” He opened his arms and about to hug me but Logan blocked him with a glare.
“You are not her friend, Felix and don’t forget that your pregnant wife is wandering around and you know her mood swings.” Logan scolded him.
“You don’t need to feel jealous, cousin. Tessa is like a sister to me.” Felix smirked.
“Would you escort us inside or you want us to talk here?” I cut them before they continue with their
banters.
They stopped and looked at me.
“Oh, sorry, please, follow me. Amanda is waiting for you both.” Felix said and led us to the family.
I greeted them politely. I felt awkward because I had left this life style four years ago.
“Good evening, Mrs. Finch. This is for you as your belated birthday gift.” I greeted the old lady and forwarded the gift box.
“Oh, dear, don’t tell me that this is a dress that I can wear for my next party.” Her old eyes gleamed. “Yes, this is a dress only customized for you. This is a single piece.” I replied and I could see hearts in
