We took Lucas home. The ride was filled with heavy silence except the occasional message alerts or calls on Logan’s phone which he didn’t receive We had a rough time with the lawyer couple but Logan had an upper hand over them.

No one messes up with Logan Wilferd.

“Kelly, take Lucas to his room and make him eat some fruits.” I said to Kelly.

Lucas was quietly following behind me but his fist was clutching the hem of my dress.

“Sure, Ma’am.” She nodded and bent down to hold Lucas‘ hand, “Master Lucas, please, come with me.”

She said to him but Lucas wasn’t ready to leave me.

“Luke, go with Kelly. I need to speak with your Dad about Jason and his family. I’ll be with you shortly.” I softly convinced my son to go to his room.

“I am sorry, Mom, Dad. I did a bad thing.” Lucas apologized to us in a low tone.

I could feel regret in his tone.

“Lucas, Mom and Dad aren’t mad at you because you weren’t wrong but please, be my good boy and don’t do it again. We shouldn’t hurt others physically, hmm.” I ruffled his hairs.

“I promise, Mom. I will behave like a good boy but is it true that you and…Dad are..getting a…di..divorce?” Lucas stuttered looking between us.

“Lucas, we’ll talk about it later.” Logan spoke to his son.

Clearly, we had no answer for his innocent child.

“Lucas, you’re tired. Let’s talk some other day. Remember, we need to practice for our performance. I’ll be joining you in no time. Be my good boy and wait for Mommy.” I stroked his face.

His eyes were still filled with many questions but he nodded his head and went to his room with Kelly.

I sighed and dabbed the tears which were formed when my son asked me a question which was still very hard for me to answer.

Logan, who had been mostly quiet, moved on his heels to go towards his room.

“We need to talk, it’s about Lucas. I hope you have five minutes for me.” I said in a flat tone and his feet stopped.

“Follow me to the study room.” He said without turning and with that, he strode away.

Determined to give him a piece of my mind, I followed him to his study room. He stood by the large portrait of him with his grandfather whom he admired very much and considered his as his role model.

“Logan, whatever happened today, it shouldn’t have happened on the first place if your girlfriend had kept her mouth shut rather than bragging your love story to everyone. She could wait for the official confirmation of our divorce.” I said with bitterness.

He turned around and his frowned expression made me even more frustrated.

“And how this matter is related to Raelynn? Why do you drag her in everything?” He asked me.

I laughed but it was full of sarcasm and felony.

“Jason’s mother is Raelynn’s college friend and your girlfriend visited her house when Jason heard their conversation and bullied Lucas at the school.” I spatted out in my anger.

His pupils dilated for a moment.

“Are you sure about it?” He asked me causing me to roll my eyes.

“I don’t know, it’s up to you whether you want to turn blind to this or ask your lover. Lucas behaved out of the line today. He showed aggression. Do you really think its normal and he’d not do it again if someone bullies him for the same thing or even worse?”

He remained silent.

“I’ll talk to Raelynn about this.” He spoke after a brief moment of silence.

“I don’t want to interfere in your private business but for Lucas‘ sake, please, be more sensitive and careful. A single mistake can destroy his childhood.” I advised him.

“Thanks for being there for him today. You had handled the situation more maturely than me but I won’t spare Tucker and his wife. They have given wrong teaching to their son and there’s no guarantee that their son won’t trouble Lucas again.” He said.

He sounded angry.

“I’ll go and check on him.” I said and slowly turned to leave because there wasn’t anything else for us to discuss or talk.

“Tessa, there’s a party at my Chinese investors‘ house. They are giving a house warming party and we’re invited as family.” He said and my feet halted.

I craned my neck to glance at him whose eyes were already on me.

“Logan, our divorce is scheduled in almost nine days. Do you really think we should give a public appearance as a family?” I asked him.

His expressions were unreadable when I said it.

“We’re still married and the party isn’t very big so it won’t be a problem. He is one of our potential investors who’ll help us to set our foot in Asia. I can’t refuse him.” He said.

I felt an ache in my heart.
