Tessa
“Ma’am, we have loaded the boxes, is there something more that you want to move?”
The maids asked me. I looked at the packed boxes.
“No, that’s all.” I forced a smile.
I had only three days. It was better to pack my belongings because staying in that house a minute more after signing the divorce
papers.
After sending Lucas school, I decided to pack my stuffs that I’d be moving from Logan’s house.
“What is all this? Where are you taking your stuff?” Logan’s voice forced me out of my thoughts.
“I am moving my personal stuffs to a storage until I find a new place to move in.” I replied, not bothering to glance at him.
“Tessa, there’s no need to leave the house until you find a new place. I’ll be the one to move out from here after our divorce. This is a genuine request.” He said.
“There’s no need. There’s nothing much and I don’t know when I’ll be returning to the city. So, it’s better if I keep it in a safe place.” I replied.
“Do whatever you want.” I heard him mutter in an annoyed tone and he moved out of the house.
He looked pissed off but I didn’t care what he felt.
What happened on his birthday crushed the remaining softness I had for him. He returned home almost at midnight, only a few minutes remained when he apologized to Lucas and they cut the cake. He tried talking to me, but I ignored him.
He stayed back to tend to his girlfriend who accidentally injured her ankle and she needed him to nurse her.
And he stayed, forgetting the promise he made to his son and it was the only reason I felt bitter towards him. 1
No sooner my stuffs were moved from the house, I sat down to finish a few new designs. It was my favourite thing to do when
Lucas wasn’t around.
“My dear cousin, it’s good I found you here.”
The sarcastic voice of my cousin forced me to divert my attention from my laptop screen to my cousin who walked in the patio, dressed in a luxury brand’s clothes, wearing expensive jewelleries and holding a small bag.
Although, she was breathtakingly beautiful which charmed men around her for her striking beauty, she possessed an ugly personality. She was wicked and cruel at heart.
“I wasn’t expecting you here when Logan isn’t around.” I responded calmly.
“Oh, I came here to meet you, Tessa. After all, I won’t be seeing you much around here, probably I’d never wish to see you again.” She said and placed the paper bag on the table.
“The feeling is mutual, Ray.” I smiled.
“I come here to return something you can take with you when you’ll leave.” She said fetching out a square box. She opened it and picked the same watch that I gifted to Logan.
Why she had it?
“It broke on Logan’s birthday. You know cheap materials. I sent it for repair and now, you can keep it. Logan doesn’t need it anymore. He has a good collection of limited–edition watches, both expensive and rare and I have gifted a much better and costlier watch on his birthday.” She said.

I stared at the watch, a cold slap on my face, reminding me of where I stood, both in personal relations and also in terms of wealth.
