“Good morning, Mam.” Kelly wished me when I walked into the living room.
“Good morning, Kelly. Lucas is still sleeping. Please, check upon him when he wakes up.”
“Okay, Ma’am. Shall I bring your coffee?” She asked.
“Yes, please. I am having a bad headache.” I said because I could hardly sleep at night.
The slight change in Logan’s behaviour last night made me confused. He asked me to sit while he ate and even complimented my cooking skills. He cancelled his date with Raelynn and spent the evening at home.
“Ma’am, your coffee.” Kelly’s voice snapped me out of my thoughts.
“Thank you, Kelly.” I took it from her and offered her a smile.
“Mr. Wilferd is going to work today. Do you have plans to go out together?” She asked me.
I was surprised because I had no clue that Logan decided to take a day off from work. He never really took off from work unless it was very urgent.
“I have no idea and even if I knew, we don’t make plans together anymore.” I replied with a small smile.
“You are easily giving up, Ma’am. I still want you to stay and fight for your marriage.” Kelly said, she still wanted me to stay.
“Kelly, go and prepare Lucas‘ breakfast. I am going to the garden area.” I said to put an end on our conversation because it’d only depress me.
To my surprise, I found Logan in the garden in his tracksuit, he was watering the plants himself but what surprised me even more was the new saplings planted in the corner where I always wanted to plant some fruit trees.
The orange–golden sunlight falling on his face made him look more handsome for my sore eyes. He had a peaceful expression
on his face.
“What are you doing here? I heard from Kelly that you have taken a day off from work? Do you have special plans for today?” I asked him. Thus, gaining his attention.
“I have ordered some fruits plans and asked the gardener to plant them, see.” He pointed on the new plants.
I was still in daze. Why was he doing this?
“I hope one day Lucas and his family will remember his parents, especially you who planted these plants for him.” I could only smile because I’d not be in the picture of Lucas and Logan’s future.
“I have taken off from work because I want to make up to Lucas for breaking my promise on my birthday. The guilt isn’t letting me breath.” He spoke in a low voice and I could see that he genuinely looked guilty.
“It’s a good thought but Lucas has already forgiven you. He loves you very much. He understands that you must have a good reason to come late but you need to speak to your family. Your father is quite upset.” I advised him on the basis of what I had seen on his birthday.
“I don’t think he’d forgive me easily but I’ll try. Shall we visit them tonight?” He asked looking up at jne.
His request again shocked me.
“I don’t think it’s a good idea. I am leaving in two days and they already know about it. It’ll be an awkward situation for me. “I turned him down.
“But Dad might me more upset if he won’t see you with me. Let’s just do it for one last time.” He said and I felt he’d not let it go

easily.
“I have plans tonight. If you want, we can go tomorrow.” I lied because I really wanted to avoid meeting his family.
Disappointment flashed on his face but he nodded his head in acknowledgement.
I didn’t want to drag our conversation longer, so I quickly left from there. After reaching at the brink of our divorce, his changed demeanour was making it challenging for me to stand on my ground.
And I lied about having plans for the night. So, I had to think of a plan to avoid this family meeting. I’d miss his father because he was only kind and respectful towards me but his mother and sister had tormented me mentally and emotionally.
Suddenly, my phone rang. It was Ruby and an idea clicked in my mind.
“Hello, Ruby. How are you?” I answered the call.
