Lucas had slept a while ago as he was tired after practicing for one last time before the gala. Logan hadn’t returned home yet. I wanted to call him but refrained myself because the awkwardness between us was still there.

I worked on few more sketches. Since Kevin suffered a heart attack, I hadn’t chance to discuss with Logan about our divorce. I knew that the papers were ready and only needed our signatures and then approval from the court.

So, I decided to wait for him. The clock struck ten thirty in the night.

My wait finally came to an end when I heard his car entering the compound. A few minutes later, he entered into the silent living room. He looked exhausted and again he didn’t even spare me a glance and moved towards his room.

I had enough of his ignorance.

“Logan, we need to talk.” I said in straight manner.

He halted in his track and I heard him sigh.

“Tessa, it’s very late. I think you should go back to your room.” He said in a flat tone.

I’d not lie, it pinched my heart but I tried to maintain a normal composure.

“No, I can’t wait for tomorrow.” I raised my voice but then I composed myself and took a deep breath, “I know you’re ignoring me intentionally. It’s your personal choice. I just want to ask about the divorce? Are we filing it tomorrow as per our agreement?” I asked.

He slowly turned around and for a brief moment, I saw softness in his eyes which was quickly replaced by blankness.

“We aren’t getting divorced tomorrow or in next few months.” He stated without any emotion in his tone.

I blinked my eyes as I tried to absorb the shock I had felt.

“What do you mean?” I asked to ensure if my ears heard it right.

He sighed and pinched the bridge of his nose.

“The doctors advised us to keep his away from any kind of stress and no stress will be worse than our divorce. We’ll get divorced but not until he fully recovers.” He explained his previous statement.

“I understand but…” I paused and tried to sink this latest change in our preplanned decision.

“Tessa, there’s one more thing.” He spoke and this time I felt slight hesitation in his tone.

can speak.” I said firmly because at this point, I was really frustrated.

“Let’s just stay out of each other’s way. We’ll live here but let’s try not to get close and we’ll only pretend to be a normal couple in front of my father.”

The way those words rolled out from his mouth, I felt like my heart was thrown in front of a speedy bus. He never talked to me like this before. Even when he demanded a divorce, he was humble.

“Mr. Logan Wilferd, what do you think I am?” My tone was icy cold.

“Tessa, you are taking this on a wrong track. Aren’t we suppose to part ways tomorrow? Let’s just pretend that we’re separated but we’ll not make it official until my father’s health recovers. I can’t lose him.” He said.

“I refuse. I have planned my life from a new start. I am preparing to move to a different city. Do you really think that I am just a puppet whom you can toy whenever you want?” I threw my hands in the air.

A frown settled between his brows.

“Tessa, you can’t be serious right now.” He said in an annoyed tone.
