“Are you nervous about the result?” I clasped hands with Lucas.

“I am nervous, Mom. Rose and Jacob also gave good performance.” Lucas face was sweaty

“Don’t be nervous, even if we’d not win. You’ll always be a winner for us.” I said stroking his hairs.

My eyes went in the audience row and my mood sank when I saw Logan, his mother and sister but the person who reminded me of my last fiery argument with Logan.

We had given our performance. I’d say it turned out very beautiful. I sang and played piano while he danced. The audience applauded for us but we couldn’t be sure until the results were declared

The mic person drew our attention. The chatters died and our heartbeats accelerated.

“We saw many wonderful performances by our little ones and their mothers this evening. They all put their heart and soul and we all enjoyed it. But the winner will be one. So, I have the winner’s name in my hand, their performance was magical.” The teacher spoke.

We were sitting tightly on our seats.

“So… the winners are..” She stretched her sentence, “The mother–son duo who sang and danced on the song “Just Like The Snow On Mountains“.”

“Yay! Mommy, we won!” Lucas jumped from his seat and hugged me.

My eyes became teary with happiness I had felt. It was the song that my mother used to sing to me when I was a kid. We played piano together and it was a memory I had with her which later became e passion.

“Master Lucas Wilferd and his mother Theresa Wilferd brought tears in our eyes. Their bond could be seen in their performance. Lucas, Mrs. Theresa, please, come on the stage and receive your prize.” The mic person said.

Lucas looked at me.

“Are you ready, Mom?” He asked.

“I have been waiting for this moment for a month, Lukey.” I winked at him and together we went on the stage to receive his first prize.

It’d be the first mernory of him being a student.

We took many photographs. In that moment, I totally forgot about Logan and Raelynn.

Only Lucas and our bond mattered to me.

“Ms. Nina, I want my Dad to come here so we can take a photo with my parents.” Lucas said to his teacher.

“Oh, sure, Lucas. We were actually going to call him here.” She said and picked her microphone.

“Mr. Wilferd, it’s time for family photo. Your son and wife have given us an unforgettable performance.” She called Logan on the stage.

I stole a glance at him. It was visible how the three women’s face turned hard when Logan had to pose with his family.

On the other hand, Logan rose from his seat, adjusted his blazer and took confident steps towards the stage. His personality screamed regal aura.

Our eyes met for a brief moment. The way he smiled for the audience and how his eyes shone pride for his son, it made my resolution tremble.

I wanted to keep my distance from him as much as I could but when he placed his hand on my lower back as we stood behind Lucas for a family photo, it caused body hairs.

“Perfect. Now, we want to know how are you feeling after your son and wife won the first prize. We want to hear it from you.” Ms. Nina asked him to deliver a speech.

I looked down, my hands were on Lucas‘ shoulders.

“I feel extremely proud of Lucas and I am actually surprised seeing my wife’s talent. She can sing. I knew she can play piano beautifully. I didn’t have any doubt. I knew they were going to win.” He said.

The way he called me his wife, I knew it was just for the show, for people to believe that we were happily married, I still felt the sparks inside me.

“That’s really impressive. We don’t wonder how why Lucas is well behaved and a child prodigy. Congratulations once again for winning the best performance of this event.”

“Dad, I am so happy.” Lucas squealed showing his trophy to his father.

Logan picked him in his arms as we stepped down from the stage.

“And I am proud of you, Luke.” Logan kissed his forehead.

Their bond was captured by everyone but I knew it was real. Logan loved his son more than anyone in

this world.

Once we came out of school auditorium in the parking lot, his family ran towards Lucas.

Raelynn wasn’t far behind as well.

“Oh, my sweet grandson. You shined like a bright star. I am proud of you.” Lilia showered her hyperbolic love on Lucas.

“Congrats, Luke. You rocked. This if for you.” Lea gave him a gift box.
